I also have a Richmond 6EM30-2 30 gallon tank. Last night, I had hot water; today, lukewarm. This is an electric heater about 10 years old, so I got a feeling it's gonna be an element going out. However, the Richmond online parts replacement list is Greek to me; the label on the heater says 8 volt AC, wattage is 240-208. Does anyone out there have an idea what catalog number I need for a resistor replacement element?

    Thanks!

I forgot to add the model number for the Richmond electric water heater above; it's model number 8MV40-2. Sorry!

Water heater not working after turning up heat

Did you turn the breaker completely off, then back on? When a breaker trips it is in a middle position, and nust be turned off to reset it, then it can be turned back on.

We have a new Rheem 30 gal short water heater. It only seems to put out about 10 gallons of hot water before it starts going cold, any suggestions......

I am assuming that everything was fine and then all of the sudden available hot water usage time dropped.

On a dual heating element hot water heater it can be

1. Internal tank loaded with sediment (drain and purge from lower garden hose fitting)

2. Thermostat or element problem with ONE of the 2 heaters. (Trouble shoot element thermostat)

3. Check Circuit breaker for partial trip of the breaker.

The hot water and central heating wont work together

what size of gas line is going into boiler and water heater? is it black iron ? natural gas or propane? have you checked gas pressure at water heater and furnace ? if they work fine individually then you have a problem with incoming gas pressure. Call gas company and ask them if they would come out and check gas pressure.

Parkray Cumbria efficiency problem

Some circulation pumps have a 3 phase mixing valve (cold, warm, hot) to regulate the water pressure in the building; no way to know unless you trace the plumbing. Basically, the hot water temperature could be lost because the circ-pump is cooling it with the cold water supplied to it. This is used to balance the pressure (aka Pressure Balancing Circ-Pump), so heater is really working overtime to heat the water. If the pump has two in and one out that's more than likely your problem; but you should consult a "old-school" plumber in your area.
