Question about Sony DAV-S300 System
We have owned the Sony DAV-S300 system for almost 7 years. We have never had problems with the system. A month ago we noticed that all DVD's that are played in this system now appear in black and white instead of color. We do not know why this occurred. We did have a dinner party for adults only and allowed all of the neighbor's kids to use our basement with supervision. We are not certain if the babysitter changed a menu option or if this problem even occurred as a result of this use. We have looked through all DVD and TV menu options and cannot find anything that would change the DVD's to be played in color again. Any help is very much appreciated. Thank you.
Sounds like you're using the S-VIDEO output from the DVD player, but the TV is not in S-VIDEO mode. On my TV, not all of the input sockets support S-VIDEO, so make sure you're in the right socket (look for a TV screen icon with an S in it. Also, even in the right socket, it's possible to select the right input on the TV but not in S-VIDEO mode. On mine, I keep pressing the AV button to cycle through the inputs - when I get to the DVD one, it's black and white, but one more press selects the same socket in S-VIDEO mode and the colour returns.
Hope that's clear enough and that it helps (if you're still after a solution after all this time) :)

We had the identical problem, which was solved by changing the input channel on our Panasonic plasma screen. This was not obvious and we needed help from the person who installed the system. The input channel had changed automatically!
