Question about Proview PL926WBi 19" LCD Monitor

2 Answers

ProView PL926WBi Hello, I've got a ProView PL926WBi and pretty sure I need either a new inverter board or parts to fix mine. Both fuses are good and +14 and +5 volts coming out of the power supply board are good. Nothing comes out of the HV connectors. Tubes look ok and everything worked fine until one day came home to a dark screen which would not light up. I figured Windows was acting up so I powered all down for a few minutes and restarted. I noticed the monitor light blinking for a bit while the computer booted up, then the monitor looked as if it just shut off. Windows continued to boot, I'd expect fine, but nothing on the monitor at all. Any help would be appreciated. This is not an expensive monitor, so I really can live without it, but as I like fixing things, I'm giving it a shot. Thanks. -Rodger

Any monitor will work with any computer provided the correct graphics card driver is installed. When you install Vista and you do not install the graphics driver, Windows will default to Generic VGA driver and you will not get the best resolution that the monitor can display.

have a look at the board open up the monitor and remove the boards and you have to look for doomed or colored caps, they will be obvious compared to the good flat caps on the board. replacing these will most likely repair your issues.

unsoldering is the only way to UN-mount capacitors the board needs to be out of the casing. a solder iron and some electronic solder wire can be bought at radio shack or any other electronics store.
procedures are all over the internet

Blank screen with message "mode not supported"

Hi

How have you connected the monitor to the computer?
Is it through the vga or the dvi port?
Pls press the monitor menu button and change the mode to vga or dvi depending on the connection that you have now.
You might also get a vga to dvi adapter and connect the monitor to the computer.

This is an inverter board problem. The inverter supplies the high voltage and frequency to run the CCFL backlights. The board has a sensing circuit to shut down the output if too much current is going to the backlights or it will shut down if the transistors overheat. I have replaced transistors on some boards with higher rated transistors and they have worked great for years. Sometimes it is just a cold solder joint on the inverter board. Replacement boards are expensive but not too difficult to replace. Repair requires some ability with electronic boards and should not be attempted if you do not posess the skill. You could end up damging other parts that cost more.
