Problem with Sony Handycam

To whom it may concern, I'm not sure what the problem is, but when the camera is on the only thing visible in the viewfinder and the LCD screen is lines. Everything is very distorted. I would greatly appreciate your help. Thanks, Lisa

The display on the Sony Handycam DCRSX63 does not snap.

If the display on your Sony Handycam DCRSX63 is not functioning properly, there are a few things you can try to fix the issue:
  1. Check the battery - Make sure the battery is fully charged and properly installed in the Handycam. If the battery is low, the display may not function properly.
  2. Check the connections - Make sure all connections between the Handycam and the display are secure and not damaged.
  3. Reset the Handycam - You can try resetting the Handycam by turning it off and then on again. This can sometimes resolve any issues with the display.
  4. Update the software - If you have not done so recently, you may want to try updating the software on the Handycam. You can download the latest software from the Sony website.

LCD's can be replaced althhough it is really not a user serviceable problem and will usually need to be repaired by a qualified service technician.

Play back fuzzy

It looks like dirty video heads. Put brand new tape on camera and play it all the way to the end several times if necessary. It will clean the video heads. Good luck!

Nothing in viewfinder or on screen

Same thing happened to me. Seems to be 'common' although Sony says they have no recall on the CCD. Look around the forum and you will find others with the same problem.

Replacing the speaker part number 152959011 2,0 cm should solve the problem. If you need more info please advice. Arpi
