My tower wont come on - PC Desktops

I have had an emachine for 6 years and most of the problems experienced were broadband related until I changed to Orange, no more problems. that is until now .I powered up my computer after a 6 week gap and it started up fine , 30 seconds later it shut down !! Dead.
Have gone through the normal checks ,fuse, cable etc but no joy, The only thing that indecates that there's life in the tower is a flashing led (green) light on the back panel.Having now read all the
answers to questions relating to loss of power, I may have the answer . Its the power pack! Anyone else out there think differently?

    Dear JK4,

Is it plugged in? Are you sure?
    Has it ever come on?

Do you actually expect your problem to be solved with with that description? How about some detail? As much as possible.

    You get what you give.

Have you had an electrical storm lately? Do you use a surge protector? Those can fail, too. How old is the PC? Power supplies can sometimes only last a couple of years. If you've added a lot of drives or a lot of other hardware on it, it could tax the power supply until it fails. Open the side of the tower. As a first test, notice what happens when you hit the power button. Do you see any of your fans start to turn (just a turn or two) and then quit? That's a failed power supply.Remove the power cable before continuing. Then, disconnect the CD's and hard drive power connectors. They are usually white with four big pins on the right side of the drive. Plug in the power cable and try the power button. If it starts up, you've maxed your power supply and need to upgrade to a larger one.

Can you be more specific.. as what you mean by your tower won't come up?... do you mean that it won't power up? if so than and if you haven't checked the power cable, please do so and if the power cable and the fuse are good than please tell me what execatly happened when you last used your tower.

Thank you, I look forward in hearing from you.
