Reverse Cycle not cooling!

My Fedders 3 ton unit split system worked fine on ac until I turned on the heat. Now the ac blows hot and heat is not very hot. I checked the reverse valve at outside unit and it energizes when called to do so. Control voltages are what they are supposed to be at all locations. My idiot lights on outside unit indicate a short cycle as soon as the ac is turned on. This indication resets about 5 minutes after turning off ac at
t stat.

I had a service man come out and he said the compressor was not coming on so he installed a hard start in parallel with capacitor solving the problem and is working normal now.

How do you clean the filters on the outside unit of split system Mitsubishi reverse cycle 18RV

Outside unit does not have a filter. You can try to pull the disconnect on the outdoor unit. Reinsert after 10 seconds, see what happens.

3 split units run from one compressor one is not cooling

If there is 3 indoor units from one condensing unit
(6 pipes at outdoor unit) this is classed as a multi unit

All units will run correctly as long as they all require same mode, cooling or heating, if one unit decides to heat it will shut down until master unit decides to heat then it will start, for each unit to individually heat and cool there would have to be 3 pipes to each indoor,

Fan doesnt work on heat cool ok

Often the fan will cycle on and off on the heat mode. A cold air prevention mode is often built into modern Ac units whereby the indoor fan wont turn on until the internal system pressure is up to a certain point and heat is available to pump into the room. If the system cant come up to pressure or temperature then possibly the system is low on gas. Place your hand on the large pipe leaving the outdoor unit, it should be HOT when the system is on heating mode and running. If not Hot, then it is low on gas.

AC draws more current in hot mode

If this is aheat pump or reverse cycle unit that amps in heating is to high. Should not go over nameplate amps in heat or cool. Sounds like maybe two things. Overcharge and stopped up coil on the inside air handler. The reason for the high amps is in heat the head pressure is higher than normal. So check the coil inside and have the charge checked because that compressor wont run long pulling that much amps over nameplate. Keep in touvh Rus.

Heat doesn't work on ac

You need to check if the heat strip is still good on it or that it is receiving power. If its getting power, then the strip is bad.
