Question about DISH Network DVR-625 DTV Receiver / 100-Hours Video Recorder

Dvr won't record

Our DVR has 78 hours of recording time open. every time we start to record a program it tells us that it is full.

    Mine is the same problem. The DVR says I have 30+ hours left and will only record partial programs. I tried deleting some of the recordings, but the same thing still happens.

Unfortunately there will be no fix for this, at one point your receiver might have asked you to delete all files when you tuned it on when it deleted your files it reformatted the hard drive incorrectly so you will need to contact dish network for replacment. if its leased it can be replaced at no charge maybe a shipping charge. If its purchased you can get dhpp warranty for 5.99 a month and that will cover replacement or repair.

I had a new dvr added to my TWC cable services,but installer did not totally explain how to record or find recordings after taping. Can anybody tell me how to remedy this problem?

How do I record a show using my DVR and i-Guide?

There are multiple ways to do this:
  1. Press the RECORD button on your remote control while watching a program to begin recording. An overlay will appear on your screen to let you know you have started recording.
  2. From the TV listings grid, highlight the show you want to record and press the Record button.
  3. From any program information screen, highlight the Record icon and press the OK/Select button on your remote to schedule a recording. Follow the on-screen prompts for additional recording options.
Manually schedule a recording for a specific time or channel:
  1. Press the MENU button on your remote control then select the DVR icon.
  2. Or, if available, press the My DVR button on your remote control.
  3. Select the start time, end time and day that you want to record.
  4. Press Confirm.
  5. In the channel list that appears, select the channel to record from.
  6. Select Record to confirm your settings or select Recording Options for additional options.

Need to recover data from DirecTV R15 DVR receiver hard drive


First, sorry for the delay in respoding to your post. I did notice that you had a prior question about the Power Supply on an R15 DVR. Does the unit have a manufacture code of 500(found on the right hand front Flip Door of the DVR)? If so, I might be able to help you in repairing the Power Supply. As far as I know, getting your DVR up and running again is the only way to watch your previously recorded programs. As far as retreiving programs from your old Hard Drive via other methods, I probably won't be able to help you there. When I had both of my identical DVR 15 500's apart for a parts swap to diagnos a failed Phototransistor(infra-red sensor for the remote control), I also tried to swap out the Hard Drives. This is what I found: When you swap a Hard Drive into another DVR, it won't play any of the programs previously recorded. However, if you record new programs on the swapped Hard Drive then they will be playable on this current setup. Now, if you swap the Hard Drive back to the original DVR it came out of, the programs will once again be accessible except for any that you might have recorded while the Hard Drive was in the other DVR. So, in conclusion, when programs are recorded on a particular DVR, it is encoded electronically to play back only in that DVR via communication from the Motherboard and the Hard Drive. I know, it sucks, but that is why I was asking if you are pretty sure the Power Supply is at fault. If so, I received info from this forum on how to fix the issue. Also, if the attempt fails, Ebay has some previously owned DVR's for sale and maybe you can get one for spare parts. Remember, the Power Board and Front Display Control Panel are the only interchangeable parts IF you want to view the programs on your DVR's Hard Drive. Let me know what your DVR does when you plug it in. That will go far in further diagnostics of your DVR.

Won't record in HD. DVR shows to be recording, but when you click on the programmed HD channel (the one that's supposedly recording) it's blank and says "searching for satellite". Just started recently.


Have you tried rebooting the DVR and removing the card that came with the DVR if its one that was provided to by one of the satellite company's such as Directv or Dish.

Dvr is programmed but at times "chooses" not to record show and other times it does record


Be sure that a DVR timer is set to fire, instead of an auto tune. Also if it is a series then make sure you select new episodes, your dvr will not recor a program if it has already recorded the same program once, ( re run) you can also check your scehdule in your dvr to check if timer has been deleted or modified.

Doesn't stop recording


Make sure there is no time overlap on any of the programs you have on the recorder.

That is the most likely problem

DVR records blocks for 4-6 hours


If you have no manual timers with extended timers then replace the unit. That will eliminate the issue. Thanks for using Fix Ya.

How do I transfer memory (recorded programming) to new DVR?


you could do it one program at a time by conecting the video out on the old box to the video in on the new box. and re-record the memory one program at a time, also cunsult tech support through direct tv.

I want to copy the programs recorded on my dvr 510.


According to engineering aspects of the 510 it is not designed to allow the recordings to be transferred. The only option you have is the option you mentioned or purchasing the 510 and having it incorporated into the new system so you can access them. I am sorry I did not have any better news for you. Problem with DISH DVR 625


You can accomplish this by either going to the specific TV and selecting the record option at the time the program is about to come on or you can press menu-8-5 and change the record preferences. You can either set the DVR to record programs to the TV2 location by default or TV1 by enabling the record plus feature. In dual mode without record plus enabled all programs you select to record default to the tuner you are viewing e,g, if watching tv1 and selecting to record a program in the future it will record to the tv1 location.In single mode all recordings default to tv2 so you can continue to watch live tv from tv1.
