Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

One year old soyo topaz s DYLM24DC Monitor. OK for a 6 months, then my cpu started getting too hot and system crashed multiple times until I figured out about the temp problem. No overclocking. AMD 6000 with ASUS M2N32-SLI Delux motherboard, 2GB K-Skill RAM,NVIDIA 8600 GE video card, HD and Sony CD/DVD, Windows Vista Home Premium OS. All ok till then. Fixed the Temp problem, but screen still blacked out in the same time frame as the CPU used to do, even though now the Temps are all low. Changed computers to an Intel E5 chip, and monitor still blacks out at about 1 hour. If I wait 5 minutes and turn it back on, it will be ok or about 5 minutes, then black out again. If I wait 2 or 3 hours, it will stay on about an hour at most, then black out. Is there something getting hot inside I can check out - or replace to fix this. I have gotten used to the monitor, and even though I now have two new ones, they are smaller and now I have an extra computer without a reliable screen. thanks, Jared Kelley 214-668-7729 212 W. Rio Grande Garland, Texas 75041 and thanks again!

I am not 100% sure but I guess that the system board on the monitor has been overheated and therefore will require replacing.

You can get it tested but certified engineer local to you.

Please let me know how you get on. In the mean while I'll do a bit more research into this on your behalf.

Best of luck

Soyo SY-7VMA-B -supports P-3 tualatin (.13u) CPU's?

when looking for a cpu for the socket 370, be sure to NOT get the socket 370 cpu that is made for servers.

this type requires a motherboard made specifically for that type cpu.

use a search engine to find out how to tell if it is a socket 370 server CPU, there is not enough space here for me to explain it.
in that search you will also find out how to determine the answer to your question about cpu's supported by that motherboard..

most socket 370 based systems run pretty well, so you have a good machine there, and it's worth your time to keep it running, and to upgrade it.

COMPUTER KEEPS ON REBOOTING ITSELF.

It could be driver problem. But if even almost all mode of boot doesn't help. Your options are repair, restore to factory settings or reinstalls depends on the features your system has for recovery. In old ways we just reformat it and reinstall all, backup cd always on standby.

If harddrive has a fault like many bad sector. We replace the drive.

As for your other system I will say that sometimes updates are not helpful enough. In old days of xp we are not updating, commonly we just update antivirus definitions. We experienced slow down and system crashes. We just install some enhancement software in exchange for some features of xp.

If I miss something just post a comment.

Add on PCI-E video card doesn't work

I would check the BIOS To check the boot order preference to see if you can tell the motherboard to Force Starting up with the PCI-E Slot.

If the slot did go bad, most likely you would see the system crash instead of just automatically going back to using the onboard video card.

24" DOA Soyo Monitor

What size monitor were you using before? If you were using a smaller monitor and everything was fine maybe this new monitor is out of range for the graphics card. I've found that not all graphics cards, especially older ones, will not run a monitor as large as 24 inches. If you can, connect this new 24 inch monitor to a computer with a more powerful graphics card. If it works then you will know that the problem is with your computer. Also connect your old monitor and go into control panel and see what range and resolution your graphics card will support. You may need a more powerful card to run the new monitor.

tricky!! oh hi im Dyanne.. a totally unresponsive black screen can be th result of failure of th LCD or LCD inverter.( a specialized piece of electronics that energize th screen) to rule out th failure of th video display adapter or circuitry, try plugging in an external monitor..a standard pc monitor.. attached direct to th lappy. if it works, (as i susopect) th motherboard and video display are both working ok and its th LCD which is at fault. this can sometimes be repaired by a competent specialist. good luck xx

My Dell XPS One keeps crashing

First of all, if you've only had the system 6 months, it should be under warranty with Dell. So I'd contact Dell 1st before replacing any hardware on my own. You can chat with Dell tech support here:

http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/chat/hardware_chat?c=us&l=en&s=gen

There is a BIOS revision you can download and install:

http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/download.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&releaseid=R183426&SystemID=XPS_ONE_A2010&servicetag=&os=WW1&osl=en&deviceid=15196&devlib=0&typecnt=0&vercnt=2&catid=-1&impid=-1&formatcnt=1&libid=1&fileid=250629

If you need to replace a RAM module, the instructions are here:

It is possibly your video card that is having the fits. Try replacing your video card or have your CPU checked... It is not a problem with the monitor, rather a problem with the computer...
