Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

One year old soyo topaz s DYLM24DC Monitor. OK for a 6 months, then my cpu started getting too hot and system crashed multiple times until I figured out about the temp problem. No overclocking. AMD 6000 with ASUS M2N32-SLI Delux motherboard, 2GB K-Skill RAM,NVIDIA 8600 GE video card, HD and Sony CD/DVD, Windows Vista Home Premium OS. All ok till then. Fixed the Temp problem, but screen still blacked out in the same time frame as the CPU used to do, even though now the Temps are all low. Changed computers to an Intel E5 chip, and monitor still blacks out at about 1 hour. If I wait 5 minutes and turn it back on, it will be ok or about 5 minutes, then black out again. If I wait 2 or 3 hours, it will stay on about an hour at most, then black out. Is there something getting hot inside I can check out - or replace to fix this. I have gotten used to the monitor, and even though I now have two new ones, they are smaller and now I have an extra computer without a reliable screen. thanks, Jared Kelley 214-668-7729 212 W. Rio Grande Garland, Texas 75041 and thanks again!

I am not 100% sure but I guess that the system board on the monitor has been overheated and therefore will require replacing.

You can get it tested but certified engineer local to you.

Please let me know how you get on. In the mean while I'll do a bit more research into this on your behalf.

Best of luck

How do i fix my monitor from automatically pulling up the "brightness" menu and adjusting (on it's own!) it to the lowest level?

check to see if the tiny switch that controls that setting is stuck or is shorted out. if it's OK then it could be a Capacitor going bad, of a resistor is getting hot and letting current or voltage changes that effect that control.

My acer asipre 4739z laptop starting after a few minutes not work. fan is running battery is ok

Please describe a list of events that takes place from the time the ON button is pressed until the screen goes OFF. Attach an external monitor and press the Function key with the screen key to transfer video. If monitor responds the video is OK but screen is BAD. Then replace Screen. If Monitor does not show video then problem is probably a thermo problem. To correct video chip overheating do the following; First ... Remove Battery. Remove CPU and Video Heatsink and Fan. Clean dust and lint that is blocking airflow in heat transfer grill. Clean dust from inside fan. Clean old heatsink grease from Heatsink and from Video chip and CPU. Apply fresh High Quality Heatsink grease evenly but sparingly to chips. Replace Heatsink following tightening order to spring screws at CPU. Replace covers ... and start.

My acer aspire 53115 is just turning itself off seems to be getting a little hotter than usual too, but that my just be my imagination. It is a year old, but I had it in the box for 6 months,...

It sounds as if you are experiencing a heat related issue. Often the problem can be taken care of by removing the heatsink/fan assembly, cleaning it, and reapplying thermal paste to both the CPU and GPU.
I am guessing that if your laptop is over a year old, even if you only used it 6 months, that it is out of warranty. You have to be a little careful on disassembly, but it should clear up your problem.

Soyo monitor: Out of Range

Out of range indicates that you have attempted to use a resolution the the monitor is incapable of handling.

Lower your resolution and try again until you can get it to do what you wish then try to do each monitors resolution individually.

24" DOA Soyo Monitor

What size monitor were you using before? If you were using a smaller monitor and everything was fine maybe this new monitor is out of range for the graphics card. I've found that not all graphics cards, especially older ones, will not run a monitor as large as 24 inches. If you can, connect this new 24 inch monitor to a computer with a more powerful graphics card. If it works then you will know that the problem is with your computer. Also connect your old monitor and go into control panel and see what range and resolution your graphics card will support. You may need a more powerful card to run the new monitor.

I have a kt400 Dragon motherboard I am hooking up. When I turn the power on the cpu fan comes on the the buzzer on the motherboard sounds and the fan stops and nothing works.

This is a Soyo motherboard which was discontinued some time ago. Soyo does provide some support, though, with drivers and the manual located here:

The buzzer you are hearing is the ABR Buzzer. ABR stands for Anti-Burn Regulator. Circuitry on the MB monitors the internal CPU temperature, and when it rises above a certain level, the buzzer sounds and the system will shut down, to prevent the CPU from being fried.

In my experience, this is typically due to a malfunctioning CPU fan. You said yours is spinning at boot, so it might not be the fan. It may also be that you are trying to use a CPU that is not fully compatible with the motherboard (especially one that is 6 years old). If this is the case, the ABR software may be mis-reading the data from the CPU, thinking it is overheating, and then shutting it down.

The manual is one of the best I've seen as for detail and explanations, so I'd give it a look. This is the direct link for it:

Also, if you are trying to overclock the CPU, that can cause overheating in a hurry, and result in a shutdown. You might want to reset the motherboard to factory defaults (remove the CMOS battery, wait a bit, re-install it), in case a previous owner had been using overclocking.
