I tired what you said, and unfortunately it did not work. I really appreciate your suggestion, I guess Back to Nintendo it goes, and back in my wallet I go. If I spend the money to fix it and it ends up doing it again I am gonna slap myself, because I could have put the 90.00 toward a new unit. Cross your fingers for me.

    Thanks again.

I am having the exact same issue. I can do everything with my Wii, EXCEPT play discs. I can connect to the internet, download and play games, use all the Mii features, but it will not read ANY disc.

I have the same problem as all of you, and I have a lens cleaner for game systems called gamedr. which is only found i best buy. I just need to know how many times do I have to use gamedr. disc. I hope if all your wii will be fixed by gamedr., if not, send it to nintendo.

If Wii won't read disk, first step you need to check is to try
another disc or clean the exisitng disc. This will confirm that problem
is with either Wii or Disc. If the console itself is giving disc read
error then it needs to be repaired. You may check out DIY Wii Fix Guide,
that will show step by step information to fix the problem yourself. It
also gives information on fixing many Wii Related Problems, so its a
kind of Wii Problems Reference Fix Guide.

Hi,

What your looking at here, is a laser read problem.
You can either try cleaning the lasers head, with a cd/dvd laser cleaner disk or similar. or alternatively, search e-bay or other on-line stores. to obtain a replacement laser unit.
there are unfortunately, no other practical options.

Thankyou for using Fixya.

How do you connect the wii to a dsi

Can You Use Nintendo DS With Wii?

The portable Nintendo systems, Nintendo DS, DS Lite, and DSi, are connectible with the Nintendo Wii system, much like the compatibility between Nintendo's Gameboy Advance and Gamecube video game systems.

  1. Purpose
    • Connecting the Nintendo DS, DS Lite, or DSi to the Nintendo Wii allows owners of these systems to use them to their maximum potential, as they take advantage of the Nintendo Wi-Fi connectivity. This allows you to use the systems simultaneously with certain Nintendo DS games.
    Connecting
    • To connect the Nintendo DS, DS Lite or DSi to the Nintendo Wii, the Wii needs to be connected to the Internet wirelessly either through a router or by the Wii LAN adapter. These Nintendo systems share a Wi-Fi connection, and this allows the portable Nintendo systems to connect instantly to the Wii via the wireless signal shared by the Wii and the Internet.
    Function
    • Once you have your portable Nintendo system and Nintendo Wii connected, the DS will act as a controller and allow you to play the DS game through the Wii system while maintaining the touchscreen and microphone capabilities of the portable system. Another function of the connection is that the Wii is able to expand the portable Nintendo system's games.
    Games
    • There are only a handful of portable Nintendo games that allow you to connect to the Wii, including the Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Pearl games, which allow players to use Pokemon accumulated via these DS titles to battle with in the Wii's Pokemon Battle Revolution game.
    Future
    • Nintendo has commented that there are plans of being able to download and play game demos to the portable Nintendo systems through the Wii's Nintendo Channel.

How to Rip Nintendo Wii Games: VIDEO GUIDE OPEN HERE>>>

If you want to rip, or back up, games for your Nintendo Wii, it's not going to be easy. Nintendo Wii and Gamecube disks both spin in the opposite direction from normal disks to prevent them from being ripped. But there is a way to get around this by ripping the game directly from the Wii onto an SD card.

Step 1 Make sure your Wii is modified with a Wiikey. Without one, you will not be able to rip games for it. You can have Wiikey installed for you, or install it yourself.
  • Step 2 Plug in the Gecko adapter and SD card into your Wii's Gamecube memory card slot. It will then ask you to load a disk.
  • Step 3 Load whatever Wii or Gamecube game you want to rip. It will save the files on the SD card, but the card is too small to fit the whole game. Once it has dumped all the information it can hold, you must remove the SD card and put the files on your computer. Erase the card and put it back in the memory card slot and continue copying the game's information. For a Wii game you will have to do this three times.
  • Step 4 Once you have the entire game on your computer, they will be in usually three separate pieces. Combine them into one file.
  • Step 5 Burn the game file onto a 4.7 GB DVD disk and play it on your Wii. Due to the Wii's protection software, only modified Wii's can play ripped Wii games.

    Wii wont read discs

    put in a cleaning disk.

    Jul 16, 2010 | Nintendo Wii Console

    1 Answer

Our wii wont read the disks we anymore

    Hi there freidgat

What to do when your Wii Has problems with reading disks and you have tried cleaning the disk.

This does not mean your Disk Drive needs replacing more often than not it just needs the laser to be readjusted.

    Option 1

You can send this off to Nintendo if your still in warranty because it is included in there free fixes so they will do the collecting for you, fix it and return the Wii to you, all for free, but it will take 4-6 weeks.

    Option 2

If you are out of warranty its the same process as above but its $150 in cost

    Option 3

now a new Disk drive would cost around $75 for a compatible one and you may need some one to fit it at a cost as well.

    Option 4

What I recommend is a Wii Repair Guide that will show you the simple steps yourself, you will be up and running again in less than an hour and the cost is far less than option 2 & 3

    Good Luck

Nintendo WII will not play discc

The first thing to do is to get a lens cleaning kit from your local game store that is made to clean the wii's laser lens. Also, you should get something to clean your disks while you are there if they show any signs of being dirty. These two things are the first places to start.
