Power Led Flashing red 6 times....

The manual shows nothing for the led flashing 6 times. It shows that three flashes indicated the lamp cover is loose. My T.V. is off, will not turn on. When power button is pressed it flashes green and then back to 6 red flashes. Any help? thanks

Hey thanks for your tips.....after posting this I did more investigating online and found other people with the problem also stated it was the thermofuse.
Called "sony support" HA.....think it was some dude in his moms basement with a manual like mine. It's out of factory warranty so it's a good think I had 3 years left from bestbuy. Repair guy came out and said 3 weeks to get the fuse. Hopefully it will be sooner sigh

I have the same problem... Sears said that the earliest they could get here was Dec 24.... I said great, just dont get in the way of Santa

Is there a permanent fix to this problem? I had this problem now twice in just over 2 years (every 14 months on the dot pretty much). I want this problem fixed for good, not just for another 14 months.

The thermocoupler fuse is what it is called by the way. i also saw that it could be the "power board" which could or could not be synonymous with the thermocoupler. anyway, again it is a common problem with these models. Scott Jackson, MS

I had this problem with my e55a20 and the same light sequence. the problem is simple. the fuse blew. it turns out the a20 and a10 models all have too simple a factory fuse and something about the placement of it being too close to the lamp which contributes to its overheating. if its still under warranty or not, call sony to get you in touch with the nearest repair facility for them to come housecall and replace it. the replacement is more advanced and will not go out again. that's what i was told. mine's worked fine ever since. the only bad thing was the waiting game in my case. sony support is a b**** to deal with mainly because they don't know anything about the sony products, obviously some outsourced phone support, but they CAN give you the number for your nearest service and repair facility. 1st i had to get the housecall to diagnose the problem, and my nearest facility is an hour away, my serviceman verified, the part was backordered, so i had to wait 3 more weeks or so and then schedule him back to my house. maybe you'll be luckier on the waiting game. when you finally do get the replacement fuse part, its only about 10 minutes for the repairman to replace it. good luck, Scott Jackson, MS

3. Error Code Operational Check

Note: The TV must be in "Shut Down" and not have been switched Off, to perform the Error Code Operational

Check. When the TV is switched Off, the code automatically resets to "12" No Error.

Pressing the front panel "DEVICE" and "MENU" buttons at the same time, and holding for 5 seconds,

activates the Error Code Mode. The LED flashes denoting a two digit Error Code, or indicating no problem

has occured since the last Initalization.

Note: The front panel buttons must be used, NOT those on the Remote Control.

• The number of flashes indicates the value of the MSD (tens digit) of the Error Code.

• The flashing then pauses for approximately 1/2 second.

• The LED then flashes indicating the value of the LSD (ones digit) of the Error Code.

• The Error Code is repeated a total of 5 times.

Example: If the Error Code is "23", the LED will flash two times, pause, and then flash three times.

I have a Sony KDF-60XS955 tv. It won't power on,

I have that manual. There are three lights to the left of the power button. One is labled LAMP. The manual states "The projection lamp, which illuminates the picture, has a limited life. If the screen becomes dark, the color looks unusual, or the LAMP indicator on the front of the LCD projector TV flashes, it is time to replace the lamp with a new one (not supplied). Use a Sony XL-2200 replacement lamp (not supplied) for replacement. Use of any other lamp may damage the LCD projection TV." I also found in a different page " LAMP LED lights up in red when the lamp for the light source has burnt out." I guess burnt out would be extream. I found one other if you had opened the light bulb cover and didn't close it properly. " If the lamp cover is not reattached securely, the self-diagnostic function may be triggered and the POWER/STANDBY indicator flashes three times." You can down the sony manual at http://www.docs.sony.com/release/KDF60XS955.pdf

My Panasonic PT-60Dl54J tv shut itself off and the power button is now flashing red 6 times. What has happened, how do I fix it?

This is straight from the service manual (I'm not sure what the problem is but it sounds serious):

8.2. Power LED Flashing timing table
When an abnormality has occurred, the protection circuit operate and cuts the power supply. At this time, the defective line can be
identified by the number of flashes (red) of the power led indication at the front of the unit.

1 LOAD SHORTAGE 92
2 OVER VOLAGE 93
3 FAN SOS 94
4 MAIN 3.3V 88
5 LAMP DISABLE 61

Tv says airflow restriction tv will turn off. there is no airlfow restriction

I did not find a reference to airflow restriction in the service manual.
I don't know if this will help, but here are the error codes:

The TV must be in “Shut Down” and not manually switched Off, to perform the Error Code Operational
Check. When the TV is switched Off, the code automatically resets to “12” No Error.
Press the front panel “DEVICE” and “MENU” buttons at the same time, and hold for 5 seconds to
activate the Error Code Operational Check. The LED will then flash denoting a two digit Code.
Example: If the Error Code is “32”, the LED will flash three times, pause, and then flash two times.
• The Error Code is repeated a total of 5 times.
4. Error Codes
The Error Code designations are listed below:
Error Code Probable Cause
12 No error detected
22 Recovery from momentary Reset
32 Lamp Cover open
33 Air Filter Cover open
34 Lamp abnormality
35 Chassis Fan failure
36 Exhaust (Back Cover) or Lamp Ballast Fan failure
37 Engine (DMD or Lamp) Fan failure
38 Excess Lamp Temperature
39 Excess DMD Temperature

remove back panel. blow out all the dust from all the components except the fan on the right.
Vacuum out all the dust.
Have you replaced the lamp? that would help too.
There are 2 small red lamp. One indicates HEAT problem. The other one is the LAMP indicator.

Tv went off while watching a program power standby red light blinks 6 times then pauses then repeats tried unplugging unit waiting a few minutes then replugged same results nothing. can anyone help me ?...

Here's an excerpt from the Sony Manual online. And the link - http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/webtree.pl?template=EN&mdl=KDF55XS955&content_id=68&category_id=11&problem_id=52

The POWER/STANDBY (red) indicator flashes three times
If your power/standby indicator is flashing in a pattern of three flashes, this may indicates that the lamp cover is not attached securely. Follow the directions in the Operating Manual under changing your lamp that related to closing and securing the Lamp Cover. Ensure that the Lamp Cover Door is securely fastened by tightening each screw.

The POWER/STANDBY (red) indicator flashes continously
If your power/standby indicator is flashing continuously, and the lamp cover has been secured, your TV may be in need of service.

The POWER/STANDBY indicator is lit up green (not flashing)
A sustained green light indicates your TV is on.

The POWER/STANDBY indicator is lit up red (not flashing)
A sustained red light from your power/standby indicator simply indicates that your TV is in standby mode. This shows you that your TV is ready to be turned on with the remote.

Is it the power light and not the lamp light? If the lamp light is flashing then replace the lamp.
