Can not get the computer to boot up. I can get the windows xp home loading screen then flashes a blue screen and back to trying to boot
What error message are you receiving on the blue screen? if it resets to fast start typing f8 at boot and in the advanced menu, toggle down to do not restart on system failure. write down the hex code (0x00XXXXX) and report back. What version of windows are you running? have you tried to press f2 or f1 or whatever key it is to enter setup on your laptop @ boot and disable network boot?

SOURCE: Trying to start my computer
http://www.hitachigst.com/hdd/support/download.htm has a Disc Fitness Test programme. It produces a floppy to boot from DOS into Windows. My Satellite 1110 has the same error message, PXE-E61. The BIOS shows "no HDD". The DTF found no fault on the HDD. (full test took 45minutes) Give it a try. I know, you need a working computer to down load it-- and DOS and a floppy drive on the faulty one. There are USB adaptors for floppy drives. Tomorrow I prise the 1110 apart and will clean all the cable and connectors. Good luck. Bryan

cable plug possible defective, if possible plug into another computer and see if error occurs. since you did not state OS go into the Device Manager and insure 'network adapter' has driver installed and working. Is there an external media hooked up?

The error PXE-E61: Media test failure usually means the hard diskhas failed or the hard disk needs re-seating or the disk controller is faulty. First - re-seat the harddisk and reboot the computer. If this does not work then reboot and go to theBIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If it doesn'tdetect the hard drive then it could be faulty. Next - to determine if thehard drive is faulty, remove the hard drive and insert it into an USB hard drive adapter and connect it to a workingcomputer's USB port. If this computer cannot see itas an external hard drive and you cannot open the various folders and files, this confirms the hard drive is faulty. Then the hard drive needsto be replaced in the computer/laptop, Windows installed and the computer orlaptop's device drivers plus your programs etc. to get a functioningcomputer/laptop again.
