Question about Gateway 831GM PC Desktop
Hi, I was thinking about upgrading my Gateway 831 GM desktop by adding 2 gigs of memory and getting a better power supply to get a new video card. I was wondering if it would be possible to fit a Nvidia GeForce 9800GTX in it. I saw that the 4 memories slots would maybe be in the way of fitting it or it would beat least tight. I was wondering is any of you guys had done it or would know an answer.
The 831 only supports 2 gigs of ram any more and it wont start. You can probably fit a 9800 in it but would be a very tight fit.

check to make sure you have added the right type of memory. also look at your user manual. it should tell you where and how to place the added sticks. sometimes they have to be added in pairs or have to be in specific slots. also if you dont have the manual it is on the gateway site. you should type in your model and serial number and get all the info you need.
