Question about Intel Desktop Board D845GVAD2 Motherboard

1 Answer

No Video the computer comes on(green light on the front), the fan starts but the only display is "no video" and the video goes blank. could the video connection/mother board be bad? other than this there is nothing else to tell you what might be going on. I have tried 2 different monitors that I know work on other machines but to no avail. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanking you in advance, Keith keitho47@comcast.net 202-414-8176 (work number)

Hi Keith, the Intel D845GVAD2 board uses an integrated graphics card for video & also uses your system memory to function.
Suggest, you remove the system memory & clean the contacts with alcohol. (Allow time for the alcohol to dry). Blow the memory slots out with canned air to remove any dust build up. Reseat your memory & boot the system. (No display)?
From your description it sounds like the integrated graphics controller may be bad. The only way to test this would be to add a PCI video card to the system.
The board’s bios uses auto detect. If you add a PCI graphics card to the system the bios should auto detect the PCI video card & load display.
There is a chance that the controller is too damaged & the bios will not see the PCI graphics add in card. In this case the board would be considered bad. If you have a local computer shop or know of someone who may (have a known to be good) PCI video card, you can ask to borrow it & test your system for video display.
Here is a link to an inexpensive PCI card:

Good luck Keith!

When I switch on my computer, Windows XP start loading and then my Samsung Samtron 45Bn monitor's screen goes blank and the green light keeps flashing every 0.5 secs.

It sounds like your video is set to the wrong resolution. Try booting into safe mode by pressing F12 at the start of the boot process. If you get into windows that way, then adjust the display to something you monitor can display like 1024x728@32bits. The monitor can only display a certain amount of pixels and if you set the video card to high you will lose visual. Hope this helps.

DO YOU FIX PS3s... I have tryed everything i can think of incloding different cables HD & normal, different TVs HD & normal Also holding down the power button and waiting for the beeps. But nothing...

  1. Make sure the HDMI cable is connected to the HDMI OUT port on the back of the PLAYSTATION 3 system. Connect the other end of the HDMI cable into the HDMI Input port of the TV or display monitor.
  2. While the PLAYSTATION 3 system is in standby mode (red light on the front of the system), hold down the touch-sensitive power button on the front of the system until the system goes into standby mode again . (So the light cycle would go from: red light --> green light --> then back to red light). This will ensure that you have held down the power button long enough to reset the Video Output Settings.
  3. Turn on the PLAYSTATION 3 system and once the system finishes powering up, the Video Output Settings will automatically reset to the standard resolution (or detect the current display output settings of your TV/monitor).

SAFE MODE

Have a look at this, it may help.

Modrl 710N Monitor. I have just turned on this replacement monitor for the first time in about 3-months. The screen is blank with a flashing green light on the control panel. Pressing the test button tells...

When a monitor goes black and the solid green starts flashing it normally means the computer is sleep mode the screen saver blanked out the display the comp is off ect... However in this case since i assume you allready tried wiggling the mouse tapping the spacebar pressing the resume button ect... It is one of 2 things either the video card is going bad.( perhaps the computer has been on for a while and it is getting hot. With video card issues except the obvious, the case fan should be checked. there is a fan on the videocard it should checked as well the pc coul and mostlikely needs the dust blown out of it cause thats what kills fans and power supplies Hey power supply is the next possibility to th issue. No matter which part solves the problem I reccommend you do the other maybe premaintenance things I suggested. Good Luck.

Computer monitor won't tur on

check the connector to the pc from the monitor. it may have come loose. if you have a mouse, try moving it and see if the light on the monitor turns to green. it is possible the video has failed.

LCD monitor goes blank

It appears that the display resolution set in your display properties is out of the range that the LCD can display.

Try this.

Boot to the ENABLE VGA MODE by pressing F8 to get the Windows Boot Menu. If you can get to the desktop, then go to display properties, and see if you can change the resolution to higher settings and maintain video. (If the video blanks out, then it should revert to the previous setting in 15 seconds)

Monitor keeps blank even the power lLED is on green

If it's working fine in DOS, it can only be your display drivers for your operating system. What happes when you start in SAFE MODE? When you PC starts, keep pressing the F8 key, go to Safe Mode. If it works, bring the Resolution down to 800 X 600 and load the new display card drivers. Restart, should be fine.
