I have verizon fios service and i went thru all the codes given. one will turn my home theatre off and another will turn it on. neither will do both. any ideas
I have the HT-R570 Receiver and here's what I ended up doing to use the Verizon FIOS DVR remote to turn the receiver on and off with volume control. Know that Onkyo uses 2 codes 1 for on and 1 for off so use the AUX for ON with Volume control and the DVD for OFF. (I rarely use my DVD and when I do I use the DVD remote that came with the DVD)
Use the AUX and codes 1347 or 1558 to turn the receiver on with volume control. Press AUX and OK together and release. Enter the code. it should now turn the receiver ON with volume control.
To use the DVD button to turn the Receiver OFF, you have to use the search method to capture the code. Tried every code I could find on the internet and their is no universal code for OFF and ON.) With the receiver ON, push down DVD and OK together and release (should get 2 flashes of all component keys) enter 922 and with remote pointing at the receiver press the >" (forward/pause button) then press and release the >> (fast forward button) until the receiver turns off. If you go too fast and go past it, quickly turn receiver back on (within 20 seconds) and press-release the <<(backwards button) slowly until it turns off again. Then press the OK button to store the OFF code in the DVD function button. Any questions...E-Mail me at [email protected] Lots of Luck!
I have a solution which has worked well for me. It uses the DVD button at the top of the remote. It was a trade-off as none of the codes in the RC144 Philips remote will work any Blu-ray players, so the DVD button was unassigned. The 922, 955 and 977 codes are explained in the directions for the FIOS remote. http://onlinehelp.verizon.net/consumer/bin/pdf/philips%20rc1445302%20user%20guide.pdf
1. Set up your TV button to work your TV.
2. Set up your Onkyo code, pick one to turn on the receiver.
3. Use the 9-2-2 code to cycle through all available codes. At about a count of 300 I found one which will turn the Onkyo receiver off. Make sure you start this process with the ONKYO receiver already on. Once you find it press the OK button.
4. Use the 9-7-7 code to power all devices TV, AUX and DVD from the power button.
In this way, each time the power button is pressed it will send both the power on and power off signal to the ONKYO receiver.
This technique works well when you point the remote at the ONKYO receiver and press power button. Apparently the TV has better reception for the signal then the ONKYO does.
All the universal remote ocntrols have the option to look a code using the power button and up or down volume and when ur tv turn off this means that is the code and u can turn off and on the tv wit only one button.
good luck!!
