This is the only exclamation mark I get. I am not prompted at start-up. It leaves me with no sound.

It did not ask me for a driver. I can see sound card in device manager but I will have no sound until I install the pci device as shown. This happened before but I can't remember how I fixed it! All I remember was a combination of the drivers given on the disc and what can be downloaded from the website cured it for me but it doesn't work now.

I downloaded the other driver from their website and it works on win xp sp3 so I am delighted now. Sweet music!

Can we do a remote connection? I have ideas ,but improvising them is difficult by writing. I know of a third party program called Teamviewer that can make a safe connection between two parties. Check out their site and let me know.

This audio chip on this motherboard will only function using XP if the SP is downgraded to SP1, then & only then will it "possibly" function. The board is designed to use the HD audio under Vista so XP users you may have to mess around with service packs. The easy way round it, what I do, is disable the onboard sound on CMOS & plug in a PCI sound card, job sorted !! Chris

No sound from ASUS P5VDC-MX

If everything is OK in Device Manager, check Audio in Sound and Audio Devices under Control Panel. The Sound playback should default to Device Manager device.

Plus, make Volume Controls are not muted.

Last, simply check with headphones.

Lost of sound with PV4MME Motherboard (Audio device not working)

When I tried the same thing, I had more problems than you and I needed a complete re-installation of the windows XP SP2 (not SP3). I traced the problem to be a bug in the SP3 (Service Pack Three), but, since microsoft have their own way of gathering service information, I could not communicate with them, I re-installed the windows XP SP2. Now, I have changed the "Updates" to come in, but I decide which ones I want or I don't want and I mark them "check mark off". I noticed them pushing their wares a couple of times and I Xed thm out. If you do the same, remember that if you shut down, it will install whatever garbage they have, unless you click on the line below the "off window". Take the time and read the panel for shut down (not the restart). Thank you for your consideration and choice to use our service... CONSTANTIN (arzconst)

No sound

You should have gotten a disc with your motherboard. If you still have that disc put it in the disc drive and the install routine should come up. Install the various drivers that it offers.
If the routine does not start automatically, right click on the device with the yellow ! on it and select update driver. Have windows search automatically for it.
If you don't have the disc. Then you should be able to find your drivers at gigabytes website at the following link

Windows me to windows xp pro sp3...no sound

Take the modem out. Then start the computer,go to the device manager and start at the top of the list and right click and update drivers for each item Including the bus, then restart.

Also,If you don't really need dial up,Leave the modem out.
If you do need it,Wait until you have updated all the system devices and then put it back in.

Please rate this a fixya.

No sound on MOBO

You didnt say what operating system you are using. If you are using XP you may need to update xp then reinstall. DirectX 9 has to be installed before most of the newer sound drivers will even try to install. If your copy is XP or XP sp1 you probably just need to udate dx9

No Sound Device

Check your BIOS settings in the setup and make sure that the sound card isn't disabled.

If it is enabled and you are not getting any sound, you may have to get a PCI audio card to replace the mobo audio.

No sound device in Sounds and Audio Devices after Realtek Sound Driver install

Download the attachment I found, unpack it into your folder of choice.
Then move over to the control panel and select that "PCI Device". Rightclick and install the audio bus drivers I provided for the PCI Device. During installation Windows should find something like Microsoft UAA Bus driver, I don't know the exact name. Do a restart after installation and everything should work fine.
