There is 5 volts coming out of the supply,,,stby. I guess, but there is no 12 volts and the fans don't run
Should the supply be putting out twelve volts in standby?
The front green led flashes rapidly whnever the unit is plugged in

Most computer testing facilities will test your current power supply for free. A replacement is very inexpensive to replace. Bestbuy, MicroCenter, small computer shops and buy replacement from Amazon.com, newegg.com.. Just make sure you have the correct information for your replacement. The model number on the power supply would be your best bet in most cases. Good luck and have a great day. I buy power supplies as low as $15 dollars Generic
goto google enter "compact presario drivers" click on link to HP Support and drivers. once there, enter your product name/number. it should show you a list of all drivers available for your model. download your audio driver and reload it to your laptop. sometimes drivers get currupt and dont work right. hope this helps...good luck
You need a new power switch. I am currently working on a S4020WM with the same problem. I cut one wire to the power switch, then used a paper clip to make a jumper to start the machine. It has run fine since then. The only trouble I am having is finding a replacement switch.
