Re: VHF stations WILL NOT display. UHF stations WILL...

A no ufh channels would be a setting in the menu, but when your vhf channels go, the problem is typically the tuner itself, or the band switching ic. could be either. you will need a schematic to know what voltage is supposed to be on the pins.

RCA HDTV antenna is it Ok on a non HDTV

Yes, this antenna will receive VHF and UHF signals. If you install it properly outside and point it towards your local transmitters, it will work nicely (use for the directions to your transmitters). The "HD" label is something of a marketing gimmick; the tuner on the TV will pull in the signal and interpret ito display on your TV.

However, make sure that you have an ATSC tuner for your TV. Only a few low power NTSC stations are still broadcasting.

I hope this helps.

I can't get FOX on my converter box--what is the channel # for FOX?

It could be your antenna. Some retailers sold consumers UHF-only outdoor antennas and not VHF/UHF combo antennas. Other outdoor antennas may not have a power boost included for the VHF antennas (rabbit ears). The new DTV signals from stations are now broadcasting in lower power signals than before June 12.

Outdoor Antenna

KMSP/FOX 9 and KARE 11 both broadcast on VHF signals. WCCO and KSTP broadcast on UHF signals. You will need a VHF/UHF outdoor antenna to pick up KMSP and KARE 11 and also get all the other channels.

Indoor Antenna

Check your antenna to make sure it's a UHF/VHF antenna. You may need an indoor antenna that has rabbit ears -- that is the best way to get KMSP/FOX 9 reception on your TV. Your antenna should have a power boost to amplify the VHF signal if you are having trouble getting FOX 9 or KARE 11.

What Antenna Is Right For You?

Need help locating the proper outdoor antenna to receive your local television broadcast channels? Based on geographical maps and signal strengths, locates the best antenna for you, whether it's a home satellite system, high-definition television (HDTV) or a traditional analog set.

Make sure you antenna is pointed toward Shoreview, where FOX 9 transmits from.

I cannot get digital channels since the changeover. I got them before with a $10 digital antenna but now even with a UHF/VHF antenna no channels come in

You may need to scan for channels again, as of cut off date many station numbers were reasigned.
Try scanning again and if you still don't receive any channels try moving the antenna around a little.
Post back here with your findings and I can help further.

Digital channels

It's possible the stations you have in your area

have switched from UHF to VHF or vise-versa

I had the same problem and have lost one channel completely

You didn't clarify if your using an antenna or

cable qam so I assumed you are using antenna.

Youll need to check your antenna to see if it

supports both UHF vhf if it only supports one

that could be your problem .

go to it will help you determine

what stations are avalible to you .

There's a setting in the TV to be able to switch between VHF and UHF. VHF is limited to channels 18 and below (if I remember correctly). Look for a switch or setting on the TV to change it to UHF. Could be a setting in TV menu or a physical switch on the TV.

Hi there!

Assuming that you tried to tune stations onto the UHF bandwidth and received nothing,Commonly the tuner box is probably at fault and needs replacement. The VHF and UHF signals are split inside the tuner so if you receive VHF fine then UHF should as well unless faulty of course. Some circuits require an external IC to do the switching, but more on the older models. Regards and good luck, JUS004

No uhf with antannae

UHF channels are basically "line of sight" type signals. You need to be pretty near those UHF stations.
You need a Uhf or combination Uhf/ Vhf antenna to receive them - - Usually an out-door type.
Your TV needs to be set in the "antenna" mode to tune beyond channel 13 "air type" channels. Channel 14 is the first UHF channel if you're in the antenna mode. If you're in the "Cable" mode then channel 14 is a cable channel which is operating at a different frequency from UHF.
I hope this will help you!
