Yes you can fix this problem yourself and the parts are available,
If your a novice and feel that the job is too complicated (because you are going to need full instructions, and an electrical tester) i would probably recommend a service engineer

kind regards

Seems that TV has problem in Vertical Deflection area and possible causes are IC1509(V out) is broken and / or Q1505(V Pulse Buffer) is broken.
Please check / test above said IF you have experience of TV repair.

Generic problem for all Projection Televisions
If it shows anything other than a beautiful picture, it has something to do with the convergence which most of the time ends up in parts replacement.

Don't waste your time - go out and get another TV. Chaulk it up to that we have all been scamed by SONY. They knew about the problem, did not choose to make things right. They have become the Fat Cat with the attitude that no one can hurt them. We need to show them that they are wrong and boycot their products. That is the only recourse we have.

or a new lamp. you could first replace the lamp.
the screen might work fine for a couple of seconds, but then it fades away or deteriorates. This means the lamp is going bad.

Sony color TV screen

Your green CRT socket may have a solder crack, or it could be the CRT developing a short. You can switch the green CRT socket with the one from the red RT and see if it still flashes green. If it does then its your CRT, But if it now flashes Red, Its a problem in the green drive circuitry.Thts the quickest way to locate exactly where your trouble is. If you need anything further let me know.

RED AND GREEN LINES HORIZONTALLY ACROSS TV

This sounds like you may have bad picture tubes. Most likely the green and red tubes. You would have to have them replaced and realigned. I would call a Sony ASC and get an estimate to verify this. An onsite service call could verify if this is what's causing your problem.
