Question about Amplifiers & Preamps
We have a Kenwood KA-127 that is old and was working but all of a sudden is shut off and when you power it back on it reads P-off. What can we do to get this working? I am not able to find a manual or anything for this? Any ideas?
This unit is likely to be in "protect" mode. This means that a problem has been detected it the final stage of the amplifier section and the speakers are disabled to prevent damage to either the speakers of the amp. This can be casued by a poor solder connection or defective components inside the amp. Without taking internal measurements, I can not say for sure. Expect a parts cost in the $25-$40 range for this repair. Add in the local labor rate for the total repair cost.

Hello I faced the same problem and finally got it repaired with my trusted technician..together we did it...off course you need the Service Manual..Will have to buy one..
Problem one Detected was (a) K1 relay 24VDC that went defective and we repaired it (b) and then a few resistors and capacitors in the protection circuit supplying the +12VDC and -12VDC and the Amp sprang in to action...contact me for a summary of the same fault..(firstname.lastname@example.org)
but get hold on the manual..
