Kenwood KA-127 P-off response

We have a Kenwood KA-127 that is old and was working but all of a sudden is shut off and when you power it back on it reads P-off. What can we do to get this working? I am not able to find a manual or anything for this? Any ideas?

    Kenwood KA 127 - "P-OFF" display
Problem does not appear to be in the Power Outputs. - scope to the input of the protection relay shows good audio - no dc present. Require service information - schematic

This unit is likely to be in "protect" mode. This means that a problem has been detected it the final stage of the amplifier section and the speakers are disabled to prevent damage to either the speakers of the amp. This can be casued by a poor solder connection or defective components inside the amp. Without taking internal measurements, I can not say for sure. Expect a parts cost in the $25-$40 range for this repair. Add in the local labor rate for the total repair cost.

Hello I faced the same problem and finally got it repaired with my trusted technician..together we did it...off course you need the Service Manual..Will have to buy one..

Problem one Detected was (a) K1 relay 24VDC that went defective and we repaired it (b) and then a few resistors and capacitors in the protection circuit supplying the +12VDC and -12VDC and the Amp sprang in to action...contact me for a summary of the same fault..(vu2kfr@gmail.com)
but get hold on the manual..

How do i get a free service manual download of a kenwood ka-127 model stereo integrated amplifier in any digital format?

I doubt you will be able to find a digital copy, and Kenwood dropped their home audio line 2+ decades ago. I probably have a hard copy of the manual, as I was a Kenwood Factory Service Center for over 25 years, however, it is not free. If you would like more information, please visit my website at audioserviceclinic.com. Thank you.

How do I connect my cassette deck to my Kenwood Integrated Amplifier KA-127?

The tape in is the usually way and if there are no tape in and outs on newer equipment then you can take the tape out and plug into the Aux input.

Describe your kenwood manual "ka

Hi, Yes it is safe to leave this connection unhooked. The system control is what the stereo uses to remote control a cassette deck,cd,turntable etc... using the amplifier separately should be o.k. I hope this helps, good luck and thanks for choosing FixYa-Prodzilla

Have a 1990 era Kenwooed KA -127 that has always worked perfectly, however I just changed out CD players (Sony 5 disc changer that died w/ new CD P-CX355 300 disc changer, also removed taped deck ,...

I would first look for poor solder connections. It is possible that with the moving of the unit, a marginal connection finally broke. This is not unusual for a unit that is 20 years old. Check with a local repair shop for the labor costs, but this unit is definately worth a $100-$150 investment. If you;d like, post your location here and we'll try to provide you with some referrals.

My kenwood ka-128 amp keeps randomly shutting off. what can i do to stop it from shutting off? Do i need more power?

you can calculate power needed as follows:-
amplifier power must be 20% more than the total power of all speakers(if total speakers power is 100 watt)you need amplifier of 120 watt at least more is ok.

How can i find a remote that will control the volume on my Kenwood KA-127 amp?

Any universal remote capable of controlling a stereo should be able to control the volume, power, and muting. Beyond that my experience is that hitting random buttons will sometimes get other functions, eg. the "2-/12" button on my universal remote changes it to CD mode :/ You just need to find the codes for Kenwood in the instructions or online, and try all of them.
Sorry I'm a few years late, but I hope this will help anyone else with this problem.
