I just installed my new zyxel router on my desktop. Went thru all the steps and now it is time to install the CD into my computer to become wireless. Question: I assume I install this CD in my laptop since...

the cd is likely an animated wizard that will guide your through the process of setting up your router (ex. how to connect each component and how to access the router's configuration page.) I doubt that you need the cd to actually connect your computer wirelessly.

what you need to do your router

1. the router should work right out of the box, usually what you would do you router is to configure some security (ex, change router's name, set password/network key/passcode - so your neighbor does not steal the internet your paying for). you need your router's manual and follow the instructions on the section usually called wireless security

what you need to do your wireless computer.

1. assuming you have configure some security on your router you need to know what your router name is (ssid) and your encription method configured on your router (wpa, wep. etc) and your key/password/passcode configured on your router and proceed with the following instructions depending your operating system:
xp
vista
for windows 7:
Start → Control Panel →View Network Status and Tasks → Change Adapter Settings → Wireless Network Connections. Right-click Properties, and then the steps are the same as in Vista and Windows XP. (or similar)

hope that helps and post back if you have any specific questions on the info offered!

How to set up for internet use with muliple pc's

I assume you router came with a configuration manual or CD. Its very easy. Once by following the instructions, go into the router like:
http://192.168.x.x (whatever IP is suggested by the manufacturer) and make sure the internet connection type. Mostly the ISP's use 'Dynamic IP' (if you scroll other ones will be like PPPoE, PPTP etc). Select Dynamic IP and restart your router and you will see after few seconds that your router has started to offer IP's to the internal Lan Pool. connect your ethernet cables from the computers to the router (behind the router you will find the ports to connect them)
In your Network settings in the router assign an internal IP to the router like '192.168.x.x' subnet mask 255.255.255.0, enable DHCP server and assign the internal LAN ip pool like 192.168.x.20 to 192.168.x.100 and you are all set.
Very important:
Security settings Always make sure your router (if in case its wireless router as well) assign and use an authentic security feature like 'WPA, PSK or WPA2, PSK' you could also use WEP (but WEP its getting old) I recommend WPA higly for wireless clients. If you have NONE wireless connections to offer than do not worry about it.
OR
simply put the CD inside your system connect it with router and it will guide you through for configuring it.

Good luck!
I hope it helped
