I mean that the copies aren't black enough. You can't read it properly.

What do you mean when you are stating " When copies are blades" ? Not sure what that is describing.

A U4 is a fuser overtemperature.
You can hold down the "0" while powering the machine on. That will enter the machine into diagnnostics.
Next enter code 401, and press start, See of that clears the problem.
If it does. Remove the fiser and clean the buildup off the thermistor.
If it doesnt you will most likely have to replace the fuser.

SOURCE: xerox 214 copier - U 4 code....what does it mean?

A U-4 code mean the machine did not reach to temperature.
On this machine check to see if the side door is completely closed.
This door also has some to close with a circuit board on the side.

Check to see on the side door if the small flat metal springs are aligned and not bent, with the power cord disconnected. If these metal springs are out of place a short can occur. Be very careful in this area. If you are not sure what you are doing do not try to service this area of the machine.

One other thing, if the machine has been stored in a very cold place, brining the machine to a room temperature will take about 2 hours for the machine's circuit boards just to warm up.

Usually on this problem, it may be a combination of problems. It means a new fuser assembly, or main circuit board. Not easy to get to, it is in the middle of the machine. Everything has to be taken apart without breaking other components.
Be very extra careful if you are doing this work yourself. This is why you should place a service call for a Xerox service rep to do the repair.

Free solution of black bars on paper while printing on xerox dc 12 printer

Most likely this indicates a drum cleaning blade failure. This is especially true if the black Bars run up and down the page and get worse on multiple copy runs. So if you run 10 copies the last one out will be worse than the first one out. If this is the case, cleaner blades are pretty in-expensive at around $40.00.
Good Luck and Thank You for using Fixya.

What is the solution of black bars on paper while printing on xerox dc 12 printer

Most likely a drum cleaning blade. If the streaks are verticle, up and down the page and if they get worse as you run multiple copies. So on a 10 page copy run the last copy out will be worse than the first. Cleaner blades are cheap at around $40.00

Have a 214 xerox copier get e5 error and it will not reset

Remove the copy cartridgte and look on the right side of the machine. Clean all the contacts you see with a soft cloth, maybe lightly saturated with alcohol.
Then on the door where the copies exit, open that door, you will see a metal, sawtooth shaped piece of metal, just before the paper exits the machine on that door. Take a brusk and gently clean the black ink off that sawtooth. Normally what happens is that builds up with ink and starts to arch causing the E-5 code.
You may want to check the socket that is one the upper left portion of that door to inspect the contacts for damage.
