Question about Compaq Armada 110 Notebook
I've serviced these units and the cdroms drives were always a problem. The problem on the cdrom is that the actuator switch in the drive itself doesn't allow the drive to spin up all the way to read the disk. The common way to diagnose this problem is push the cdrom drive in and hold it in with a cd is the drive, if it spins up, and works while you are pushing it in, it's the actuator. the fix for this problem is to replace the cdrom drive.

What you can do is you can go to computer, right click>properties>hardware>device manager, then look for removeable drives and there select the drive that is not working or malfunctioning right click on that and the uninstall and then restart the system and your problem will be resolved apurv jaitly

Could be a faulty drive, but check first that it's not a driver fault. Go to my computer, right click>properties>hardware>device manager. Look down the list for your cd/dvd drive, right click and delete. Restart pc and let windows find it again nd see if the fault is corrected. If not it could be a drive or ide cable fault.

Tips for a great answer:
Click on Start, Run, and type regedit and press Enter
Click on the plus signs (+) next to the following folders
This folder is the DVD/CD-ROM Drive Class Description in the registry. Look for any of the following names in the right hand column.
If any of the above keys shown in step 4 are listed, right-click on them and choose Delete
After deleting the keys, close the registry editor
Reboot your computer
Open My Computer and check to see if your CD or DVD drives have returned. You may also want to open Device Manager and verify that the yellow exclamation and error code on the CD or DVD drive is gone.
hope it helps
