f9 error on a Maytag oven means door latch error, here is the complete code:

    F9-1 Latch lock upper
    F9-2 Latch unlock upper
    F9-3 Latch lock lower
    F9-5 Latch unlock lower
    F9-6 Latch both lower

Check the lower door latch, alaso try unplugging for five minutes to reset the code.

Tried to self clean top oven and this time (F-1 error) came up. $400 + to fix this time, now have over $700 in repairs. Maytag know of these problems and still manufacture this range the same way. Search this Gemini Range on the web and there are many reports of the same problems, do yourself a favour and do not buy this product especially from Sear's as they offer no assistance if you are over the warranty. This is a faulty product and has nothing to do with warranty.

I WOULD LOOK AT THE DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLY AS THE DEFECT. THERE IS USUALLY A SWITCH THAT TELLS THE CONTROL IF THE DOOR IS LOCKED OR NOT. IF THE SWITCH HAS SHORTED CLOSED, THE CONTROL THINKS THE DOOR IS LOCKED AND WON'T DO ANYTHING BUT CLEAN.MOST OF THE ASSEMBLIES ARE UNDER THE RANGE TOP.
YOU MAY HAVE TO REMOVE TWO SCREWS FROM THE UNDERSIDE OF THE TOP AT EACH OF THE FRONT CORNERS. OPEN THE OVEN DOOR TO GAIN ACCESS.
IT WILL BE LOCATED IN THE CENTER. THE DOOR HOOK THAT STICKS OUT TO ENGAGE THE DOOR IS PART OF THE DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLY.

How do I turn the temp down after oven has been on for a while. 'Loc on' message is showing and will not allow me to turn oven on.

Can you provide some additional details to help me help you? What kind of stove (make/model) and does it have any kind of self clean mode?

Without knowing the above details generally speaking of the oven is already preheated, to change the temperature you would hit the bake/preheat button to then adjust temp up or down with a digital stove. The dial stove from is self explainatory!

That loc on message may be because you have a stove lock lever or feature that prevents the stove from being opened when enabled, or when the stove is self cleaning. This may prohibit the adjust meant of temperature when the lock is on, or the stove is running through the self clean..

Again all just a general thought without knowing the above information... if you can post back or let me know is this was helpful in anyway to you! Thanks!!

Used self cleaning process on my oven yesterday and today the oven will not turn on, we keep getting message to unlock the oven door even though it is. What can we do?

The oven gets extremely hot during the self-cleaning mode... the door switch might have got stuck in locked position, or broken in locked position (to be replaced), let's hope it's just stuck...which you'll need to work the mechanical lock-unlock latching back and forth to hopefully unstick....and if that doesn't work just re-run self-cleaning process but this time let the oven cool completely before unlocking the door. Hope this helps.

By the way the door lock error will stay there until the oven cools. Once it has cooled it will go away. the reason is in a self clean the oven is supposed to get very hot to clean. The door lock is for your protection. once it has cooled down enough the door lock will go away.

Look for a microswitch connected to the lock mechanism at the back of the stove. The switch is probably broken.
