Re: Motherboard

You will need to find the model number of your board to determine the processor socket type. When you know the socket type then the mobo you need will more than likely be a mini atx board, but when you find the model and search google it will tell you the 'Form Factor Type'.

Asus p5nd motherboard won't start when power button is pushed, but the motherboard light stays on..

Most probably your power supply. An SLI rig will draw a lot of power for the graphics and for a power supply in a system like this to have lasted 5 years is amazing. They don't last forever. You could buy a PSU tester (about 10 GBP) and confirm it. But if you have to buy a new one look for one that is at least 25percent more powerful than your old one and has at least a bronze efficiency rating. (silver would be better) and buy one from a known brand such as Antec, Chillmaster, or OCZ.

Motherboard no display problem. i clean my motherboard, and tried by changing CMOS battery also. but there is still NO DISLPLAY. please help me..

I would guess that your video adapter (possibly part of the motherboard) is not functioning. You can add an adapter in one of the available slots if you wish to keep that motherboard.
This is the most likely solution.
One thing you need to try before buying a new motherboard is to disconnect everything but the CPU, memory, and keyboard. Now start it and see if you get a display. If not, your motherboard is probably bad.

Whenever I try to insert a disk into the machine, it does not accept it. Can anyone help me?

It seems that the 3.5-inch diskette drive in your computer is broken, and cannot read any media.

Take it to a professional computer technician, for trouble-shooting, and possible replacement.

Check that the "data" cable from the back of the drive is correctly connected both to the device and to the motherboard.

I was having many problems with my W3107 Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition Emachine. I thought a system recovery would help it, alot. Well after I did the system recovery 3 times the same thing kept coming...

Is it new-enough to still be under WARRANTY?

Your problems could either be:

* bad RAM -- on another computer, download the free 'MEMTEST86+' software, and burn it to a CD-recordable disk. Reboot your computer, and tell it to boot from the CD, to do an exhaustive test.

* bad motherboard -- bulging or leaking capacitors cause "random" voltage-fluctuations, and other "random" problems. Your only option is to replace a "bad" motherboard, or to buy a new computer.

* bad disk-drive -- not storing data 100% correctly.

Diagnosing these problems is best left to a qualified technician -- take your computer to one.

P.S. Telephone eMachines -- they can courier-ship you a replacement set of "System Recovery" CD-ROM disks.

I am wanting to upgrade the ram on my mothers computer. She has a Phillips Intel pentium 4, cpu 3.06GHz. Can anyone tell me what type of ram and how much it will hold?

Access the Phillips web-site, and do a search, based on the model-number, to see what type of RAM (DDR, DDR2, DDR3) is supported, and what the largest size per stick of RAM that the motherboard supports, and to see how many slots for RAM exist on the motherboard.
Open the case, to count the number of installed sticks of RAM,
and to count the number of empty slots for RAM.

Or, just take the computer to any computer-store, and have them open it up, do the counting, and do the research on your behalf. Then, buy the RAM from them, and they will install it, usually for free.

Here's a site that lists the video drivers. Some other driver sites come up from a Google search but the mainly seem to offer the BIOS and not much else. Iwill seems to be gone, so there's no manufacturer's site to check.

Hope this helps a little. Thanks for using Fixya!
