Question about Starbucks Saeco Italia Digital Barista Coffee Machine

1 Answer

No water through the dispenser

A visiting family member poured water into the bean grinder. I cleaned and dryed it out. I even took apart the brew unit and cleaned the filters, etc. It was making coffee afterward then stopped dispensing coffee thru the dispenser. The hot water wand works fine but still no water through unit. It grindsthe coffee perfectly, then dumps the dry ground coffee into the grounds contrainer in the tray. Help!
I am thinking about sending it back to Ohio for repair but saw you knew of location in DC area for service. I live the the Fairfax, Va area. Where is there an authorized service center to take my digital italia machine?

Saeco Grind and Brew model IDR 008 TG first the grounds were backing up and door not opening to go into basket, cleaned the dispenser per directions.. now the beans do not even grind at all nothing is...

Your grinder needs cleaning- maybe oily beans got used and/or storing beans in refrig/freezer? Both are a problem for grinder. Also, grinder should not be set to "fine"- it will definitely cause clogging and the situation you point out. ----------- The powder from the coffee grounds seems to get caked in the grinder. The only way to get it out is to run hot water into the little opening where the grounds funnel into the filter basket. --------- This will help.Thanks.Helpmech.

No coffeer comes out of the coffee spouts, maybe the steel filters are dirty, how can I cean them?

Before the instructions on how to clean the filters, Check the grinder to make sure is set properly.
It might be set too fine
.

Cleaning the brew unit filters
.

Wipe away any coffee residues from the steel filter in the funnel of the
brew unit with a sponge.
The chrome filter to the left of the funnel can be removed for thorough
cleaning. Check and clean the chrome filter regularly.
^ Remove the brew unit.
^ Fit the enclosed allen wrench (that you got with your machine) to the
connection point (see illustration in your manual) in the brew unit. Turn it
counterclockwise while supporting the chrome filter from below.
^ Remove the chrome filter with the screw.
^ Clean the filter with hot water and dry.
^ Return the chrome filter to the brew unit and secure it by turning the allen
wrench clockwise. Press slightly against the filter to allow threading.

Grinder is not functioning, apparently, resultant brew is between tan and clear.

HOw oily are the beans you are using ? cause oily beans will clogg up the grinder causing none or little to come out. Try running some really dry beans threw decaf beans are generally drier than most. If the amount of coffeee being ground doesnt increase then the grinder will have to be taken apart and cleaned out.

Machine has major problem with grinding beans.

Try removing all beans from bean holder - then use a vacumn machine to remove the bits down amongst the grinder "teeth'. You may have had a small stone in your coffee and if so it may have jammed the grinder.

Once it looks clean, try making a cup of coffee without the beans in the hopper - you should be able to see and hear the grinder revolving and also hear the brew unit moving between the grinder outlet and the water inlet. If it all seems ok now, then add a small amount of beans back into the beans hopper and try making a coffee. If it still will not work, get it serviced. There's not much the average person can do inside these units other than to do more serious damage or kill themselves with an electric shock.

Not clear on "Empty bean container/full grounds drawer) - not empty/not full. " But I gather that coffee is not being dispensed. Most Likely the grinder needs cleaning + brew group needs cleaning ( filter ). Do you get water/steam?

Help....we poured some water into the bean grinder/container

Hi,

You have to take off the bean hopper, turn the ring on grinder anticlockwise to you see the claque. Take out the middle off the grinder and clean everything carefully.

After that you have to put it back again, when you have the middle off the grinder back you turn the ring clockwise to the end, after that you turn it anticlockwise 14 "tick".
