Printheads on that almost all Epson brand printers are IMPOSIBLE to change. Are made for waste containers! It's trgough. If you can change head on that, maybe in a bit less than 200 hours! It's NOT a joke! Better, i nought a K8400 HP large format...It's 4 seconds to change heads. Also, they are cheap price and LAST very very long...but NEVER let any inkjet printer without printing all 4 colors for a minimum of 1 page in 3 weeks. Heads would dry. If you care you'll print with the K8400 for about 100,000 pages.

Why does my epson 1400 feed paper straight threw instead of printing?

first, are you on a screen that has text on it to print. say a word document? Not a web page. second, how long has the 1400 been sitting before this happened? if a long time then the ink head may be clogged. Try printing in gray scale only and then in color and see if the same thing happends. Third make sure all print tasks are cleared. normally in the bottom right hand corner you will see a printer icon. if youclick it it will tell you how many jobs are waiting. clear them all. by pausing and then canceling them. (if they are there.) if none of those exist then look for the ink pad on the inside of the printer to the right. ( you will have to see if the head is moving left and right to do this.) if the printing head is moving left and right and you dont see anything stuck like paper and such in the machine then you need to find out if the black foam on the right where the print head parks when its done and shut off is wet or not. this entails watchin the print head go to the left and then shutting down power to this printer by unpluggin it. (this is not a switch off it needs to be unplugged from the 110 outlet) then if you can feel by a Q tip if you donw want to get your hands inked and see if it comes up with colors and black. if it does not then the ink heads or ink or both are dried. then do a search here on Fixya to look for clogged ink heads

Printer heads print head need serviced

Color printers do not like being unused for long periods, the print heads will become blocked.
If the color cartridges are full and you have done a deep clean print head several times, then the color print heads are most likely is blocked the print head needs to be replaced.
NOTE the cost of replacing printer head could be expensive, this could be an opportunity to upgrade to a new and better printer.

Lines in the prints. using all new ink cartridges

You might try running the print head cleaning step a few times. It does waste a bit of ink, but this is the only way this is going to get resolved shy of replacing the heads and or printer. good luck

Epson 1400 won't print blacks

Many problems regarding Ink with Epson relate to using cheap ink consumables. I recommend you buy original Epson black ink catridge. I know its more expensive but you should see the black ink clear.

Be sure to run head alignment and clean printer option first with the current black ink then replace with the new original Epson ink catridge

Epson 1400 simply pulls blank paper through when I try to print

I've had the same problem. Drives ya nuts. Found that error said dvd/vcr release something or other on the epson print monitor. In any case, I found that if the front door isn't securely closed. (the front door you open to insert the dvd thingie, the paper will just feed or not feed at all. Once the door is closed on the front, the feed works fine again.
