That device needs proper driver to work properly. Try to identify each device and if you have cd/drivers like audio, video, ethernet driver then install it..Or try to download the drivers on the internet. Type the model of the hardware in search engine like yahoo or google.com

You need the bios/operating system disk to start, and then you would need a full version of windows to install.

Can a Conexant modem from a Vista pc be added to a pc that runs XP?

Yes, but you must find the driver for it. XP has gotten pretty good at finding these on the Internet, but if you are installing it i imagine you need it for the internet... If possible look at the modem in the vista computer via device manager and find out what model it is.Then you can go to the manufacturer site to get it. Or you can check the computer manufacturer site and see if they list a XP driver. There is also a slight chance that XP will automatically load the modem when you install it.

To see device manager in Vista, click start, right click on "Computer" and select properties. In the upper left corner of the windows that opens you will see a link to Device Manager. In that list you will see a group called "Modems" Click the plus next to it and it should list the model of the modem in the vista machine.

Helena,

General installs of a new windows system come with generic driver to most standard hardware devices.

if you can however, be more specific i can help you further.

Hard Drive Prevents any other windows device from loading

Hi, Mark Here.
Yes the setup on the xp install puts drivers into memory, but being an older version of windows B4 sta was out it does not have drivers to support it.

You could go to Microsoft & search for a new version of setup install drivers that includes sta, & download to thumb.
Really typical Windows Failure (driver not available freeze up or blue screen).

Pci device

Yepp, you can do that! Its not XP who desides if you can or not, its your motherboard, if u have a free pci-slot you can install it.
Put in the pci device in the free slot, start your pc, xp will find it and ask if you want to install it. Now you have two choises
One: you let xp do all the installation
Two: you selec to install it your self via a cd where you have the drivers, you can also install it from drivers stored on your HDD,
After the installation dont forget to check device manager to see if there are yellow exclamation marks (!) next to the device.

Good luck to you

Installing xp on acer aspire m1610

First you want a Windows Xp genuine CD and most of the drivers are built-in in Windows xp, also try to install windows xp with service pack 2 and after installation go the device manager and see how many device required drivers as you can see them with exclamation marks or question marks. go to google and download the device driver run it inside your pc also i recommend before you do got to device manager and indentify all your dirvers like VGA Sound and other devices
