Mine does kinda the same. I'll be surfing or downloading something and data transfer will stop, and I'll start getting those "server took too long to respond" messages from my browser. All lights will be green and look as though everything is normal, wireless adapter on the laptop also says full signal and excellent connection. When I try to repair the connection through the wireless adapter, it won't reconnect and I'll have to go power cycle the router and reconnect to my wireless network. It'll work for a few more minutes after the power cycle then do the same thing all over again. Time for a new router?

This could be a number of things but here is a few good things for starters.

1. Turn off encryption if using WEB or other security features like MAC address Filter. Try it and see if that is the issue, if not go to next step.
2. Backup your Router Config, Factory reset it and or upgrade to the latest firmware.
3. If on Cable Modem have them Flush the MAC Address and IP's from the Modem and see if you can obtain a new Public IP to the WAN port on the router.

Let me know if none of the above works.

Kind Regards,

Hi, i have bought this netgear 108mbps wireless router WGT624, 2 weeeks ago, it was working good, but now suddenly it shows less mbps and when tried to restart it, now it not working, i mean it says in my...

I suggest try to check the netgear if it is connected to the internet. If the wirelss signal is good, it might be the internet connection is having some issue.
What you can try to do first is:
1.connect a computer to the netgear directly using an ethernet cable (RJ45)
2. click start then select run type cmd (It's a black screen)
3. type ipconfig/all then press enter on your keyboard
4. check the ip address it should be 192.168.X.X and the default gateway is 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 depending on the router default ip address
5. on the black screen type ping yahoo.com then enter on the key board
*if there is a "reply from" message it means there is an internet connection going in the router and you need to configure the router. *If the message is "unable to detect" or "request timed out". You need to contact you Internet Service Provider for assistance.

Start up and Signal problems. need to download WGT624 set up

.chk files are normally those produced by the system after a hard drive repair or some such, and shows lost clusters on your drive.
Your Broadband modem feeds the router (your problem device), which in turn connects to the computer's Network Card, the one with the RJ45 connector. The smaller connector goes to your modem, for use with Dial-up signals, not broadband. Cable modem feeds router, router routs signals to various computers, via RJ45 cables. Your router is probably for 802.11g signals, used by the majority of networked computers. The 311 in your computer plugs in to the 624 router. They work together to get you on the Internet.

Why does my WGT624 keep loosing connection. I would be on the Internet and for some reason, I would loose connection to the Internet. I have a Dell Inspiron...1521 computer.

In my case too this happened initially with my lenovo y410 laptop with netgeat router. In laptops if th ewireless network is set with "public" profile then the connection is sometimes dropped by the driver. If you or only a few persons are the only user(s) of your router and your WLAN is securely encrypted, then you can change the wireless settings of your laptop to be in "private" network, which will solve your problem.

Make sure that your computer is getting a valid IP address from the router. If your wireless network is secured, you might as well consider checking the wireless settings.

need more information - do you have cable? DSL? Are you able to connect when you put the Ethernet cable directly into your computer and bypass the wireless router? The wireless signal is only indicating that your router is "broadcasting," but does not mean you have a usable Internet connection.

As you say that, you are able to go online with the modem, connect your modem- router and laptop witha cable and check if you are able to go online with the router wired first, if yes, then the w/ls settings has to be checked..open your w/ls network connection, remove your preferred wireless network and then try to reconnect again and check.. if you are not able to gon online wired with the router, disconnect power cables from modem- router , wait for 10 sec, and reconnect it , wait till all the lights come up and then reconnect, check if you are able to go online if not your router has to be reconfigured,,

plz check and revert back in case of any issues
