Question about Dell E176FP 17" LCD Monitor

Dell monitor problem

I am using a Dell Lattitude D830. I added another monitor (Dell) for home use. First time I hooked it up, it worked fine. Today, I took the laptop with me, so unplugged the monitor. Now, I cannot get the monitor to come back up. I have gone into the control panel and changed the monitors, but it still won't work. The monitor works, but I cannot get the laptop screen to show up. My wireless mouse won't work either now. I need the monitor badly, as my DH cann ot see the small screen on the laptop. I have unplugged, rebooted, changed out batteries and everything else I could think of. I consider myself pretty computer savvey!

If you have another monitor for desktop hook other monitor up then under hardware and software in control panel, add the dell monitor, then hook it up. Some operating systems need the driver to be added first. My brother almost threw away agood dell lcd monitor before I told him this, now he loves the lcd, works great.

Have you tried the "function key + F8 key" since that usually is the key combo you press to switch between built in LCD and external monitor on a Dell laptop.

Worst case scenario would probably be some type of driver setting or resolution setting might be to high. and in that case you can try system restore (with the monitor connected of course) to the day it was working and see if the setting go back to that time...

This solution is the easiest one to try since you can always undo the restore operation if it doesn’t resolve the issue

The PIN number you entered has probably been corrupted and it now thinks it has been stolen.
You may have to get hacking information from Gateway to restore operation.
