Question about Whirlpool LSQ9600L Top Load Washer

Whirpool LSQ9200LQ Top Load water leaking on start of pump out

Water looks like it is leaking down the right side of outer drum only on start of pump out. Had the machine up on blocks so to be able to get my arm under there to feel where water was coming from about a quart of water the first 4or5 seconds of spinning.Does not leak if water level is set on small or medium load. All hoses and pump seem fine as water is coming from above. Do you think this is a water level problem? If so how would I get to the water level switch if there is one?

Thanks 20YRSEXP Transmission was the problem. Water was coming from a cracked outer tub that was being forced against the tub ring from trying to spin with a full load of water.

Transmission may be bad. When machinbe goes into very start of spin it should drain the water first and then machine will actually spin; tub should not be spinning. If it is, water cyclones up sides and will come out at tub cover. Only fix is to repl trans or select lower water level if I am correct in the diagnosis.

My kenmore washer has just started this week leaking water underneath somewhere!! I noticed water down the side next to the wall & behind the washer. I then placed a few small towels behind & down...

This is either your water pump, inlet valve, or you have a hole at the top of the outer drum. Try using the small load water level, if no leaks try medium. Also try seeing if the hoses are leaking. I also have seen mice bite holes in the drain lines. I hope i have helped you. God bless!

Hi my washer does not drain properly. I think it used to pump the water out then spin the tub, but now the tube spins slowly when it is trying to pump the water out. Could something inside the transmission...

I would start with the simple possiblities first.
Remove the front cover (look for 2 phillips screws at the bottom of the front cover) Once you pull the screws, pull the bottom of the front cover forward until it disengages the two top retainer clips. This will expose the interior of the machine.
The pump is at the bottom right and has the hose from the drum attached and the other hose goes out the back of the machine.
The pump is opaque plastic and you can see if there's something jammed in the pump ( like a small sock). If it's "sucked a sock" it will jam the pump and will cause the drive belts (under the machine) to burn, stretch and not pump the water out. You can replace the belts by simply reaching under the machine and moving the electric motor a little.
If you've cleared the pump and changed the belts, try running the machine through a cycle with the front cover off and see if you've solved the problem..
with Maytag, this is usually the solution... If you're still not draining, you may have a small clothing article in between the inner tub and the outer tub... this will eventually block the drain on the outer tub and prevent water from getting pumped out..
You can use a straightened out coat hanger with a small hook bent on one end, take the top onf the machine loose (2 machine bolts hold the front corners down and tip it back away from the machine case. This will allow you to take the top cover off the outer drum exposing the space between the inner and outer drums. Take your "fishing rod" coat hanger and fish between the two drums on the right side near the drain hole... Most times you can snag and remove the blockage and pull it out.
Hope this solves your issue.. please let us know if we can help you further ...

Water Everywhere

Look for loose, cracked, pinched, broken hoses to and from the water pump or leaks from the water pump itself. The outer drum could have a rust-through that leaks. This can be repaired with epoxy, but the inner drum must be removed to access it. The cabinet top is opened by using a putty knife or similar tool to push straight back under each front corner which releases a spring latch. Sometimes, the drain hose outlet is pushed from the house drain by high water flow. Tie the hose to the drain with tape or cord. Fill the tub with water, then stop the cycle and watch for leaks.

Leaks from top of outer drum when viewed with front panel off. There are a half dozen or so small openings around top of outer drum (maybe where outer drum hooks/clips onto inner drum) water was viewed...

There is too much water (or not enough clothes) in the drum. When it spins the water rises up the side of the tub and overflows. Use a lower water setting (smaller load size).

During the final spin cycle, water is leaking inside the machine

You have a problem with the pressure switch cutting in too early before all of the water has drained away from the outer drum

There is either an obstruction in the outlet pipe or pump which is not allowing the water to discharge fast enough.

The machine is then spinning with too much water left in the outer drum added to the water which is being expelled from the clothes equals leaking

Take the hose off the back of the machine and put it in a sink , make sure it is secure and do a rinse cycle

Watch the outlet and make sure it is a strong flow if it is weak then you have probably got an item of clothing stuck in the pipe from the drum to the pump and a strip down is required

One more thing there is a small plastic bottle attached to the back of the outer drum this has tube which leads to the pressure switch

Make sure there is no congealed soap in the Air Bell as it is called

My Maytag washer has a defect, technican told me, that lets water get between the tub and outer lining and sit there and stagnate smelling terrible.

The water always goes from the tub to the outer shell, that is where the pump connects. Put a little bleach in the tub with some water, shake the agitator side to side to move the drum enough to circulate the bleach around the tub. Then pump the water out and then lower the hose down to a bucket to get the last of the water out. Feel around between the inner and outer drums for anything that has jumped out of the inner tub to the outer drum. You should be able to push the inner drum aside enough to get your arm in. You may have to open the top to get your arm in the space.

Maytag Atlantis Top Load MAV6250AWW Drum Leak?

It leaksYour washer can develop several types of leaks. You can track down a leak based on when it occurs:

During fill only
During drain and spin only
All the time

During fill only
If the washer leaks only during the fill cycle, check these:

Air-gap device -The air gap is a small device found on most washers that prevents the wash water from being siphoned into the household water supply. It's located either mid-way along or at the end of the black rubber hose that comes from the water-inlet valve. Often it's made of translucent plastic. If one of the air-gap components deforms or cracks, you may need to replace it.

The tube -There's a rubber tube that runs between the water-inlet valve and either the air-gap or the inlet spout. If it cracks or breaks, it can cause a leak.

Inlet spout -Most washers have a plastic spout near the top of the main clothes tub that directs the water into the tub. If the spout cracks or breaks free of its mounting, it can cause a leak.

During drain and spin only
A washer that leaks only during the spin cycle often has a leak in the main drain hose. Inspect the entire hose and correct any problem you find. Alternatively, the steel or plastic outer tubs can rust, split, or be punctured. This may be most visible during large loads and high water levels. If this happens, you may have to replace the entire outer tub--but that may not be an economical repair to make. Consult a qualified appliance repair technician for further details.

All the time
If the washer leaks all the time, check these:

Hot and cold water fill hoses - Check the hot and cold water hoses from the household plumbing. If either hose is leaking, tighten it or replace it, as appropriate.

Main tub seal - The main tub seal is located between the transmission and the outer tub. It's the primary water seal in the outer tub for the transmission-shaft entry point. If this seal leaks, you can see the leak by opening up the machine's main access panel while the machine is full of water with a small amount of detergent in it. The leak appears at the underside of the outer tub, at or near the center. This seal is difficult to replace. You probably should call a qualified appliance repair technician.

Pump - If the pump leaks, you can probably spot the leak when the tub is full of water. The pump has two or more black rubber or plastic hoses attached to it and usually has a drive belt that spins the pump. If the pump is leaking, you need to replace it.

Outer tub - Over time, the steel or plastic outer tubs can rust, split, or be punctured. If this happens, you may have to replace the entire outer tub--but that may not be an economical repair to make. Consult a qualified appliance repair technician for further details.

Washer leaking water from bottom

You may want to check the seal at the bottom of the agitator, there is a o-ring that keeps the water in the drum from leaking through the agitator as it spins. This is a cheap seal and will wear over a period of time from exposure to bleach and detergent. You need to take the agitator apart and remove it from the drum and you should see this seal at the base of the agitator were it meets the drum.

Replace the seal and reassemble, take the metal casing off the washer and fill the drum with a little water, wait, and see if the water is leaking under the drum. If no leak, try to reassemble and run the washer. If is still leaks then check http://www.applianceaid.com/genew.html
