Question about VMware ACE for Windows (ACEENGWC) for PC

1 Answer

At start-up, I must restart Remote Service from services.msc

Each time I start VMServer, I get an error message (511) and must restart the remote access service manually even though it is set at automatic. Windows error reporting says that VMServer took too much time to initialize

Hi, we're trying to use PsExex utility to launch 2 .exe files with some parameters on some server from a client application. The server is running Windows server 2003, the client Windows 7 Professional...

psexec in fact does run as the user running the command window that initiated the command. I use this command almost daily to run either command shells, batch or vbscripts, etc on remote computers. I've learned some about its behavior from watching the results.

Basically, psexec copies itself to the ADMIN$ share on the remote computer. It then installs a service on the remote computer, and runs that service, which is the copied file. This then executes the command that you specified in the psexec command line.

So, with that in mind, the user running psexec from the command line needs to have admin rights to the remote computer. You can bypass this requirement by using the "-u" parameter, and specifying a domainname\username. Domainname can be the remote computer's name if you have a local user. By putting in just the -u parameter, you'll then be prompted to type in the hidden password.

Once running on the remote computer, psexec will function in one of three ways:
1 - If no special parameter used, will run in the same user account as the person initiating the psexec command.
2 - If the "-u" parameter is used, it will run as that user.
3 - If the "-s" parameter is used, it will run as a local system account
In either of these 3 cases, you first have to have admin rights to use the ADMIN$ share and install a service.

When domain membership is broken on a computer, I'll frequently use a command line like this:
psexec -u COMPUTERNAME\Administrator \\COMPUTERNAME cmd.exe

This will allow me to have local admin rights by connecting to the remote computer as the local administrator account. It will also run the cmd.exe command as the local admin account.

When i open remote management showing a error message''error:1004'' please help me to solve this problem.

his problem can occur when you give the workbook a defined name and then copy the worksheet several times without first saving and closing the workbook, as in the following sample code: Sub CopySheetTest() Dim iTemp As Integer Dim oBook As Workbook Dim iCounter As Integer ' Create a new blank workbook: iTemp = Application.SheetsInNewWorkbook Application.SheetsInNewWorkbook = 1 Set oBook = Application.Workbooks.Add Application.SheetsInNewWorkbook = iTemp ' Add a defined name to the workbook ' that RefersTo a range: oBook.Names.Add Name:="tempRange", _ RefersTo:="=Sheet1!$A$1" ' Save the workbook: oBook.SaveAs "c:\test2.xls" ' Copy the sheet in a loop. Eventually, ' you get error 1004: Copy Method of ' Worksheet class failed. For iCounter = 1 To 275 oBook.Worksheets(1).Copy After:=oBook.Worksheets(1) Next End Sub

"error starting the service Backup Exec & media service"

This is most likely caused by a change in the user acount password that you created the profile with. Under network select Logon account Managment. in here you will see the accounts that you used to login to the Domain. (AD) Consider setting up separate accounts (backup, etc) for these services & scheduled jobs, rather than using the admin or personal accounts. This way you can still change the admin account password on a regular basis & maintain security, but not have to go the hassle of updating all of these at each change. You may also opt to set these specific accounts so that the passwords do not expire automatically so that you do not have to deal with that scenario.

Symantec client security

here u got:

Question/Issue:
When you install Symantec AntiVirus or Symantec Client Security, you see the error message "1920 Service Defwatch failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services."

Solution:
This problem has more than one cause, so more than one solution is provided. To fix the problem, try each of the following solutions in the order that they appear.

Confirm that you have the correct rights and permissions
The most common cause of this problem is incorrect rights or permissions. Make sure that you have Local Administrator rights to the target computer. Confirm that no restrictions on the Local Administrator or Domain Administrator accounts exist.. Follow the directions in the document Troubleshooting Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition installations: Checking rights and permissions.

Confirm that the Defwatch service has the correct settings
This problem can happen when the Defwatch service account has incorrect settings. Make sure that the Defwatch service is set to log on as the Local System account. Confirm that the service is allowed to interact with the desktop.

To confirm the Defwatch service settings
  1. On the Windows taskbar, click Start > Run.
  2. In the Open box, type services.msc and then click OK.
  3. Do one of the following, depending on your program version:
    • For Symantec AntiVirus 10.x, right-click the Symantec AntiVirus Definition Watcher entry.
    • For Symantec AntiVirus 9.x and earlier, right-click the Defwatch entry.
  4. Click Properties.
  5. On the Log On tab, confirm that the Local System Account is selected and that "Allow service to interact with desktop" is checked.
  6. Click OK.

Look for a Program file at the root of the OS drive.
If McAfee antivirus 4.03 or 4.5 was installed on the computer, look for a file that is named "Program" at the root of the OS drive. If the file exists, delete it.

Delete leftover registry keys from a previous version of Symantec or Norton AntiVirus Corporate Edition
Leftover registry keys from a previous version of Symantec or Norton AntiVirus Corporate Edition can cause this problem. Delete the registry keys and then install Symantec AntiVirus again.

WARNING: In the next steps you will edit the Windows registry. Back up the registry before you make any changes to it, because incorrect changes to the registry can result in permanent data loss or corrupted files. Modify only the registry keys that are specified.
For instructions, see How to back up the Windows registry.

To delete the registry key
  1. On the Windows taskbar, click Start > Run.
  2. In the Open box, type the following text:

    regedit

  3. Click OK.
  4. In the Windows Registry Editor, in the left pane, click My Computer.
  5. On the Edit menu, click Find.
  6. In the Find what box, type the following text:

    VirusProtect6

Delete all keys and values that contain this string.
  7. Go to and delete the following key:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\INTEL\DLLUsage\VP6

  8. Exit the Windows Registry Editor.

If the problem persists, manually remove the previously-installed version of Symantec AntiVirus. To find directions for your product version, read Manual uninstallation documents for Symantec Client Security products

And please if it was helpfull for you rate this solution as SOLVED
