Phillips 4gb Go gear playlists

How do you make a playlist on the Phillips Gogear 4Gb mp3 player without doing it on the player it self? Can you make it on the computer first? I have the same problem, I don't know how to set it on the computer, but the playlist button on the side is for adding whatever song you are currently on to the "playlist on the go" that is already in there... I don't know how to add any more playlists, and I can't take the songs off of that one to reset it either! It's very agrivating...

The media player thing doesn't work I tried it may times!! I just don't think you can add any more playlists to this mp3 player. Mine even says there are no playlists at all! Even though it asks if I want to add a song to the playlist on the go!

As above, but when I synch the play list to the GoGear it is not visible on any menu within the player. I've checked in the folders, music, playlists and data sections of the MP3 ...no playlist visible. Interestingly though if any track on the new playlist is already on the GoGear it duplicates it in it's original location. ie it will appear twice when I select an album.

To create the playlist for the Philips GoGear:

1st Open Windows Media Player (v10 or v11).

Create a playlist and title it. Next, click the SYNC tab at the top of WMP.

Next, drag your newly created Playlist over to the "Sync List".

Once you see your playlist listed in the Sync List window, click the "Start Sync" button at the bottom of the Sync Window.

All done.

Open a “New Folder” on your desk top

Drag the tracks to your new folder

Once the track is inside your new folder, place the cursor over the track and right click your mouse and select “Rename”

Now depending in which order you would like this track to appear on your list, type a number.
For example

1 - Elvis - It’s Now or Never
2 - Lady Gaga - Pokerface
3 - John Lennon - Imagine

Once you have completed your playlist, close this folder, then right click and select “Rename” to give your folder a title.

Finally, connect the Philips GoGear 4GB MP4 Player to your PC
Select “My Computer”
Open the folder marked “Philips”

Now drag your new playlist folder to the “FM RECORD”
Disconnect your Philips GoGear 4GB MP4 Player from PC

The End

In order to find your new playlist using the Philips GoGear 4GB MP4 Player

Switch on
Scroll until display reads “Recordings”
Select “Recordings Library”
Select “FM Recordings”
And your new playlist should appear ready for you to enjoy.

I hope this helps.
Good luck!

You have to install Rhapsody off of the CD or from a download and use that to manage your music, and playlists on the GoGear. It would seem Phillips and RealNetworks have a thing with each other, and it's as if the GoGear was designed to work with Rhapsody from the get go. (Or vis versa)

One major quirk though: if you create a new Playlist on the GoGear directly by right clicking it in Rhapsody, it will forever be named 'New Playlist' on the GoGear itself regardless of the name you give it inside of Rhapsody. Renaming the Playlist on the GoGear inside Rhapsody doesn't actually rename it either. I would strongly advise not using this function at all. It can lead to minutes or even hours of frustration, because any subsequent new list you create will just be 'New Playlist' on the GoGear and it will overwrite the last one you created.

To prevent hassle, just create a new Playlist in the Rhapsody player under the Playlists tab, then transfer that over to the GoGear by right clicking on it. Simple. =)

You just need to be in the FOLDER view to FIND the playlists on the player. Drag the songs into a folder, however you create the folder. The point is that you'll need to use that back arrow key to the left of the player and get in the mode where your folders are ( videos, pictures, radio, etc). Click the FOLDER view and you'll see the folders you created, wherever you put them.

Plug in your device to the computer. Choose the open device to view files option. on the left menu, double click on internal storage. Right click on the music file and choose create new playlist. This method will create a new playlist with ALL of the songs on your device. You then can go in and delete the songs you do not want on the playlist. Remember, you can press control and click on the songs you do not want - they should be highlighted after that. You can highlight a LOT of songs then hit the red X to delete them. Goes suprisingly quick depending on the amount of songs you have ont he device.

These directions only apply to the Philips SA6045/37:
It's not going to be easy, because you will have to do two undesirable things: 1) Set your player up for auto-sync, which will result in the player adding unwanted media files to your player without your consent - and possibly overloading your player; and 2) You will have to roll back to Windows Media Player 10.

If you ask me, it's not worth it, but here's the procedure:
  1. Playlists can only be synchronized to your player via “auto sync”. Autosync will automatically synchronize your Windows Media Player library content and your player content each time you connect your Player to the PC. If you use the “manual” sync option the tracks in the playlist will transfer to your player but the playlist itself will not.
  2. Hook up the Player to the computer, allow a few minutes for the Windows Media player to recognize and detect the connection of the Player.
  3. Click on the Sync tab.
    070507074130_18944.gif
  4. Click on “Sync settings” or “Set up sync”
    070507074142_18945.gif
  5. In the pop-up window, select the playlists that you want to sync
  6. Click “OK”, the sync will start automatically
Note: playlists never show up in the device panel under the sync tab of Windows media Player even if they are on your device. Check on your device whether you can see the playlist.

How to save playlist into go gear

This GoGear REQUIRES that you use Windows Media Player 10 - you must uninstall your Windows Media Player 11 and rollback to version 10.
Once you have done that, the instructions with pictures are in the manual which can be found at: http://www.p4c.philips.com/files/h/hdd6330_17/hdd6330_17_dfu_aen.pdf

You will have to delete the playlist, change the items you want to change in Windows Media Player, and then re-load the playlist onto the GoGear.
