Changing the Drum does not affect the scanner settings.
You can print because your PC (computer) can see your machine but for scanner is the oposit. The machine must see your PC.
I think that in this machine you have an SD card with the scanner funtion. Try to take it off and then put it on again. (the SD card is on its side. In the controller box)
From what you described it sounds like you need to get the "scanner assembly" replaced. The bulb is probably bad and won't come on to full power. Not knowing what kind of printer you have, probably won't change the fix. If you can look at the event log you may be able to see an error code which could make it a definite scanner assembly replacement. If you want to throw money at this unknown printer, get a tech to look at it and give you an estimate.
i would say possibly you are missing out on something..because if the other functions particularly photocopying are working then this should work..as in if the photocopying function works then the scanner is ok cause basically in photocopying the machine scans then prints... perhaps check whether you are correctly following procedure to scan..most hp all in ones have a button on them that you press and it automatically initiates scanning and simultaneously the software on the pc is initiated..try this,if not then try reinstalling the hp software..hope this helps..regards
Are you scanning to your computer? If you are getting an error during the transfer to your computer, check your firewall. I had a scanner (mine is a Panasonic) problem with the transfer to my computer. I corrected it by printing the properties of the scanner and found out the port number that the scanner used and opened the port in the firewall. Hope it helps.
my MP 160 cannot scan to pc, but can print and photocopy well. it says
it cannot communicate with scanner..cable might be disconnected or
scanner might be off..tried uninstalling and reinstalling..still
