Question about Dell AS500 Sound Bar Computer Speakers

1 Answer

My AS 500 Sound Bar speakers are crakeling (PArt # 4y463)

Once turned on, the speakers have a static/crakeling noise. The speaker bar is attached to a Dell flat monitor.

Is it time for new spaekers or do I have a set-up issue?

Thanks for your help

    Mr. Emrys:

Thanks for the help. It turned out to be the Sound Card. I will keep your info handy though.

The Dell speakers on the computer are making a static sound, and the volume is really low. Everything is plugged up correctly it was working yesterday, but I changed hard drives and now this has happened.

I have the same problem. It is not a connection issue, it is a problem with the audio switching in the monitor itself. Turn the power to the monitor on and off and see if the audio gets better.

Usually, the crackling indicates a connection that's not making a good connection. you can try twisting the plug where it connects to your computer and see if you can get it to make a better connect. Also, you may try cleaning the plug itself. When cleaning contacts with any sort of household alcohol, be aware that it can leave a residue so you'll need to use a clean/dry tissue to dry the plug and remove any residue. -hope that helps.

I think after reading your question that your speakers cable may be short or join another line. As a result, it become earthing & create noise. So you can test it by a Multimeter. The multimeter indicator point place on X10 or X100. Then you can understand where the problem in your speakers line. thanks

I have been experiencing static noise/crackling from my front left and right speakers just recently. (I have a 5.1 dell system - the front center - attached to the monitor and rear speakers do not emit...

This seems like at cables have gone bad or either the connections in the speakers went bad. Its best to replace them unless you know how to disassemble and re-soder the connections.

My speaker system was humming loudy and now only makes a loud static noise.

you might have to uninstall then restart your computer then reinstall both the drivers and the sound devices
click start control panel sounds and audio, volume, advanced, speakers select appropriate speakers or audio you will find 3 drop down lists make the necessary adjustments there or control panel, administrive tools, computer management, device manager, sound, could be a yellow question mark? right click to re-install drivers or right click select properties to either troubleshoot, uninstall, rollback driver

try cleaning your computer of dust using a fine air blower from a compressor making VERY sure that there is no MOISTURE in the air line specifically around the sound card and the CPU central processing unit dust causes static to build up in a computer causing it to overheat any many other problems

hope this helps

How do i use my sound bar without an actual computer tower?

the sound bar AS500 gets it's power from the LCD it is attached to, if you are using a portable, connected to an LCD then you can still use it.
If it is an AS500PA then it has it's on AC power adapter, then you can connect it to any computer.

Static coming from my DELL AS500 speakers

It's the jack on the back of the PC or sound card. Sounds like some solder is loose on the jack.

The cheapest solution would likely be to just replace the sound card, if your comfortable installing them. It's really quick and pretty hard to mess up.

If it's "onboard" sound, meaning the audio jacks are built right into the mother board, you'd likely need to just replace it with a pci based sound card.
