Question about Whirlpool LHW0050PQ Front Load Washer

1 Answer

Noise while machine is draining

I have a Whirlpool Front Load washer, model #LHW0050PQ. I've had it just over three years and yesterday it started making a awful noise during the period in which it drains. It is a kind of muffled grinding noise that sounds mechanical as opposed to structural. The machine continues to function, seeming properly, but I am worried about what this noise is and how to rid the machine of it. Thanks, in advance, for any assistance provided.

I think the advice is helpful but cannot say for sure until I get a repair man in to work on the machine. Once that'd done and, assuming that FixYa, hit the nail on the head I will be more than happy to rate the response and give it a big thumb's up! In any event, I do appreciate the helpful guidance.

My machine is also fairly new @ 2.5 years. There is a grinding sound whenever the water is supposed to drain. It fills, washes, and spins ok for now. How do we open it up to see the insides and what specifically should we look for for this particular problem?

Have you checked the pump filter- behind access door at front? If clear then bearings going out on pump; it would need to be replaced. Please contact me if you need further help or leave feedback if appropriate as that is how I get paid. Thanks for letting me help you!

Whirlpool Front Load Washer (LHW0050PQ) not spinning

Use a quarter inch nut driver to remove the bottom panel. A tech sheet should be under there that will give diagnostics. Open the pump filter and check for objects.616c06e.jpgea4423e.jpgfb90284.jpg

Whirlpool LHW0050PQ will not drain during rinse/spin cycle. lights on front panel blink.

you need to check pump assembly for blockage, if there is a kick plate, the will be two or three screws and if the isn't you'll have to go through the back

I have a year and a half old Whirlpool LHW0050PQ, that recently started to only run with HOT WATER ONLY.

I have the same machine which lasted about three years before the circuit board went out. Read the reviews on Amazon.com about this machine - it is not well liked by owners. Take off the plastic top with the two screws at the back (you'll need a star point screwdriver), remove the printed circuit board that is held in place by plastic clips and send it to me for $100.00. Take the rest of the machine to the dump - it's a piece of ****!

Basically, the machine you have is garbage! - I have one also, It is less than one year old and the repair folks have been out 5 times. It doesn't spin either!
I'd call this one a lemon!

Whirlpool LHW0050PQ - Water wont empty or fill

This sounds like a plumbing problem. Lets see if we can isolate it. Turn the valves off behind the washer and remove them from the washer. Remove the washer drain hose from the stand pipe. Stuff one of the hoses into the now vacant drain line and turn the water on. Then do the other hose. Any noise? Now reconnect the fill hoses to the washer and reinstall the drain hose to its' place. Turn on the water valves at the wall, set the washer to a cold/cold cycle and start it up. Listen for noise. Now shut the machine off and set it for a hot/cold cycle and turn it on. Listen for noise. If you get no noise now, it's all good. If you're getting noise from just your hot water, your water heater is set too high and you have steam propagating in your plumbing. Your washer water valves (where the hoses connect to your machine) will only do this if you have low water pressure coming from the wall. Still, it'll be a plumbing problem.
