    Hello

I have a LG RH7900MH, there is 38 hours left on my hard drive. But for some reason my timer recording function does not work. It starts to record but after 4 minutes it stoppes and shuts down even thougt the time is set to 3 hours.

However just presing the Rec button works fine, then it records for hours.

What can it be, any sugestions?

That can be a dirty or defetive lens, or a firmware problem.

Try first using a len cleaner , like the ones here.

If this does not work it will be necessary to take apart the unit and accees the lens to clean it, or replace the lens pickup, or if it is a firmware problem to reinstall firmware. All this jobs must be done at a repair facility.

In this case call the number listed on the owner manual to get assistance, if you bought the unit few months ago, the unit can also be still under factory warranty.

Try cleaning the lens first.

Normally if you unplug the unit from the power for about an hour then plug it back in that should fix the problem. However if it does not you might need to update the firmware. The only thing is to update the firmware you must get into the menu. So the only option left is to have the unit serviced.

Our LG RH397d/rh399d DVD / Hard drive recoreder will only turn on and display the Hallo message, and you can hear a clicking sound from in side. I have remove the power cord no change .

Your DVD drive is having a problem. When this recorder starts, it checks the DVD drive for correctness. If incase your DVD drive is has problem in the ejecting mechanism then this will prevent your HDD from working correctly. Take the player to service center and fix the drive

LG RH399H

I have the same problem with the same model LG, bought a year ago. It only gives the 'Record-blocking signals detected' message when there's something I really want to record. Over the winter it was Jane Austin's Pride and Prejudice. Today it is the British Open Golf from Turnberry. We are out tomorrow, for the last day of play and can't record!!!!! It seems this player has build in blocking signals even to channels we can normally watch. Any help would be appreciated - before tomorrow, July 19th.

LG RH278 HDD/DVD Recorder

I have an LG RH278 HDD/DVD Recorder, which was suffering from the problem that it could not play any bought DVD movies, which were previously working fine in that same player. It would however play svcd and DVD+R/-R movie discs.

The solution was to replace the laser tray. I found a new LG DVD BD lens LPC-815 laser tray here: http://www.laser-xh.com/en/?act=showproduct&proid=1147
I bought two for $5.50 each. Shipping was $32 (DHL), all together $45.10 (PayPal fees included). Delivery was fast and accurate within 3 working days (China - Sweden).

Recently purchased a unit... You can imagine the joy when I found in Manual: Audio discs can only play if in .mpg or .wma formats! Yes, all the bells and whistles except the most basic of functions such as all common audio formats. Other portable $99 dvd player works with them.

LG RH277H - won't play bought DVD'S

The cd tray eject after put in the DVD movies, but VCD working fine...it is means that the drive's region code haven't set yet .(please refer to user manual to setting the region code) ..or unplug the recorder drive from the dvd player, using the computer setting to change the region code by connecting to computer's IDE cable .

Could be the dvd player/lens. The player sucks up dust through the
player's caddy and after a while it won't read discs anymore.
A cd cleaner or a good (gently dosed) blow with compressed air might help.
