Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I have an Emachine W3650 with an Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 950
video card. I just purchased a 42" RCA L42FHD37 LCD monitor. When I connect the monitor to the pc via a VGA cable, the screen resolution changes to 640 x 480, when I try to change the resoolution under settings, the slide bar is stuck on this resolution with no other options. When I connect the PC to another monitor (computer projector), I can change the resolution. WhenI connect the monitor to my laptop, I can get the maximum 1024 x 768 resolution desired. How can I make the Emachine work with the RCA monitor?

You have a PCI Expres x 16 expansion slot so can can pretty much put any video card into it. But don't know how much space you have in the case , you might need low profile one. Or just how much money you want to spend. Here is an example of a 1GB low profile card that have HDMI out. EVGA 01G-P3-1302-LR GeForce 8400 GS Video Card - 1024MB DDR2, PCI Express, DVI, VGA, HDMI, Low Profile
You can do a search on this card.

I have a acer m 1620. when i power it up the screen comes on and say no signal and then goes black. the fan comes on and continues to run but thats it. does anyone have any ideas?

It sounds like the video cable is loose, try unplugging it and plugging it back in. Also check if the screws on the video cable are tightened. If this does not work the graphics card has likely failed.

No it does not have an agp port. IT has a PCI Express Port for video cards. Its much better and faster.
Details on your machine and what it has can be found at this link. Hope it helps.

Support UBYTE4N vertex data

Hi,
The problem is that your card sounds terrible. Either it is extremely old and outdated (in which case get a new one such as the minimum spec requirements on the box), you only have two options. The first is to take the game back, or the second is to buy a new computer or video card that supports the minimum requirements.
It sounds to me like you are using the on-board graphics port, my advice would be to purchase a new graphics card, anything not under 512MB as most of today's games require 512MB as minimum.

Good luck

im assuming you are using the on board video so a new video card with its own ram built in will improve system prefomance also.

No video

tomcat100,
Your PC has an Intel Graphics Media Accelerator, Integrated Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 90 Up to 64 MB shared video RAM. In other words it's not removable but built into the board.
Ram that is taken from your system memory. What is real good is that you have, 1 PCI Express x16 Slots (open). Which means you can disable the onboard video & use the PCIE video card. If you feel that the system is running as you mentioned, adding a PCIE woulb be a logical next step. I'll suggest a PCIE listed at the link below.
