It sounds like there is something wrong with your disc or your DVD drive.

  • Clean the Disc and check for scatches
  • Run a DVD lens cleaner in the drive
I have seen a DVD drive stop functioning in a similar case... Replaced the drive and continued with no problems.

You also need to format your hard drive.
This part is important: do NOT run the Windows installation from Windows itself. Shut down first, and then boot up the machine from CD. My Dell has a little message as it's booting up that says "Press F12 to boot from CD," so that's what I did. If you're not sure how to boot from CD, check your PC's user guide for more info.
The reason why booting from CD is important is because we're going to delete the C: drive partition where Windows is installed and re-format it. You can't do this if Windows booted from C:, because it can't delete the partition from which it is running.

its not the hard drive because you would have got a blue screen, telling you there is a harware issue.
I am a PC technician and every time i come accross this message it is usually the install disk itself which is corrupt and unreadable..
Try cleaning the disk and look at the reflective side for "spots"
also clean thye lens of the optical drive

    kind regards

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, it would be suggested to remove the hard disk from the Acer Aspire T180, connect it to another PC with the use of a SATA/IDE to USB adapter. you can then re-partition, format and run disk utilities on it. This would then determine if the HD is fully functional and would be usable in installing Vista. If the HD also fails while hooked to the 2nd PC, then perhaps a replacement is in order.

Just a start, do postback how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.

Hello,

It sounds like your hard drive has bad sectors and is not allowing the installation of the OS. I recommend replacing the hard drive. If you want the PC back up this is the quickest solution.

To install windows.Insert the disc and then restart your PC.IT should then say "Press any key to boot from CD or DVD"

Just hit any key say Enter. Then follow the onscreen instructions to install the win Vista.

The battery is fully charged, and the ac adapter is plugged into the laptop, when i push the on button the laptop will not start

Remove the battery and power source. Remove the RAM and hdd. Power up with the power supply and it should do something. If it does, replace the RAM and hdd it should now restart. If nothing, check the GPU.

How do I get the battery out of my acer laptop

Your Model of Aspire has a different battery release method, see attached pic on how to do it. This is a pic from your User Manual, you can download it from here Download Acer Aspire E1 572
Manual
. I suspect that the information you have been given regarding battery removal and passwords refers to removing the cmos battery as in a PC in the hope that it will clear Bios activated passwords.

Button keeps blinking

It sounds like it could be either the battery is going bad and not holding a charge or the adapter is. I have had really good luck with similar problems going to places like Batteries +, and large electronic retailers, and my favorite the small local mom and pop computer store; where I end up asking them If I could try one of the adapters from the floor model to eliminate if is a faulty adapter. Other then that I'd if its not out of warranty contact Acers online chat support at http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/service

How do i turn my bluetooth on?acer aspire 5044wlmi

For Acep Aspire 504x model systems that have Bluetooth built in, there is an on/off switch located in the front of the system.

For systems with bluetooth built in there will be two buttons next to each other just left of the mic and headphone ports.

The left of the 2 buttons is the bluetooth switch and the right of the 2 buttons is for 802.11 wireless.

If you only have 1 button then you do not have bluetooth built-in. You can also check to see if bluetooth is included by looking at the bottom, if Bluetooth is installed there will be a white FCC lebel with the name Bluetooth written on it.
