Printer is leaving black ink marks all over paper. Only happens from one tray. What can be done? I ran a cleaning page through and tried to clean the rollers.

Running cardstock lightly misted with water or dilute cleaning solution through several times can help. Use either the feed button or print using a program that allows you to print blank pages.

Is there any way you can post an image of a page. If you can't I'll need to have a vivie description of these marks: -Where they are located. - general shape - location - any pattern - are they getting lighter the more you print. Once we get this information we can start troubleshooting.

Canon MX870 error 6A80

Hey folks.. don't look for the " black square and black rectangle "

Here are better instructions..

1. Turn off the printer. Lift the entire hood so you can see the ink tray. Slide the ink tray over to the left side.
* if the ink tray does not slide.. you will have to turn the printer on and then lift the hood the tray slides to the left ... pull the power cord out so the printer shuts off.

2. once the ink tray is on the left. follow the ink tray rails to the far right.

3. below you should see this "white plastic" tray ( that is the ink tray cleaning mechanism ) it has these black thin plastic tabs sticking up.. ( kind of like a scraper for the ink ).. slide that "white tray" away from you..

4. the white tray should snap into place .. you're done !! no more 6A80 error !!

Reading no paper paper tray is full

  1. Check the display for an error message. If the display reads "Clearing paper from printer," the engine has detected a jam and is attempting to eject the jammed pages automatically. These pages will often be blank.
  2. Check the display for "Performing PRINT/STOP TEST" or "Performing SERVICE TEST." Either of these messages indicates that the printer is going through a test procedure that may eject blank pages.
  3. Reduce the amount of paper in the input tray if the printer is feeding multiple blank sheets at a time. The printer will pull extra pages through if the input tray is overfilled.
  4. Replace the paper in the input tray with the correct size if needed. If the 4600 printer detects the paper as an incorrect size for the print job, it may eject the paper without printing anything on it.
  5. Replace the ink cartridges if certain colors are blank on the page. Replace the black cartridge if printing a black text document that is coming out blank. The printer may attempt to print even if the ink level is low or empty, but will unable to print anything on the page, causing it to come out blank.
  6. Remove the sealing tape from newly installed cartridges. The tape covers the print heads and should be removed before installing the cartridges. If the tape is left on, it will prevent ink from getting on the pages as they print.
  7. Press the "Check mark" button on the control panel to enter the printer menu. Run a diagnostic so the printer can attempt to determine the cause of the blank pages printing. Press the up or down arrow to select "Diagnostics." Press the "Check mark" button. Press the "Down" arrow to highlight "PQ Troubleshooting." Press the "Check mark" button. The printer runs a diagnostic and returns to a ready state when done.

When i replace with new original 818 color and black/white ink cartaiges the ink status show as b/w full and color iswith"x" mark(no ink) and printer can"t take paper i also re load the driver software

If there is an "X" on the color cartridge indicator then there is a problem with it. If you have removed the plastic tape that covers the part that connects to the computer and you still have this problem then the cartridge is defective and needs to be returned to the store and exchanged for another that is good. Exchange the cartridge and install the replacement. This should solve the problem with the printer not recognizing a full color ink cartridge.

You mentioned that the printer cannot take paper. Please clarify what happens when you load the paper tray and try to print? Are you loading paper one page at a time using the external feeder or are you loading the paper tray full with paper before trying to print? If your loading page by page or filling the tray with only a few sheets of paper then try loading a bigger amount of approx 1/2" of paper. It is easier for the printer to grab paper when the try has a good amount in it. If it still will not load the paper when the tray is full and inserted correctly, please advise what happens when you try and print - exactly? Does the printer respond to the print command sent from the computer? Does it make attempts to load the paper and then fail and stop? Does it pick up paper and then show a paper jam? Does the printer do anything when trying to print from your computer? Answer these questions and I will help you solve this problem right now.

Cannon Pixma MP500- I get a solid black line on the reverse side of a printed page. Went through all the cleaning procedures and new cartridge, no change.

For some reason, the printer is designed to dump ink into the bottom of the tray before feeding on the paper. The paper is then dragged over the ink, leaving the black line. This is a software issue, not a hardware one. I'd advise that you update all of your print drivers, as well as your firmware.

A temporary fix is to clean the rollers and base plate of the printer for ink spills.

Check for any bits of paper or debris that may be caught in the printer. Be careful to feed in the paper perfectly straight, as this printer does not have good rollers, and it will cause paper to break off and cause problems. If any debris has caught or absorbed ink, it will cause the back of the paper to smudge, and you have black lines.

Leaking black ink on printed pages

Hi, please attempt to run a numerous blank paper through the printer. This will dry or clean any ink found on the rollers.
Continue to run blank pages through the printer until no more ink is found on the paper, then attempt printing. If ink stains or streaks are still present, the printer may need service.
