Question about Dell W3201C 32 in. LCD Television

1 Answer

Hi, I have a 3201C LCD TV and just last night I'm experiencing the infamous "crackling and popping and no audio" issue a lot of people on fixya.com have gone through. I have 1 year left on my extended warranty. What will Dell do to resolve this issue for me?

Sell it in parts and buy a new tv. Cost for repair will be more than buying a new TV. I will buy the scrap for parts.

It sounds like you've done quite a bit of troubleshooting, which I applaud you for doing. Have you tried power cycling the TV? Simply turn off the TV, unplug it (and any components connected to it), then plug it back in and turn it on after a minute. See if this corrects the issue. If it doesn't, then I would recommend calling our Product Support team to schedule repairs at:
U.S., Canada, & Puerto Rico - 1-800-305-2204
Mexico - 1-888-882-7326
daily from 7 am - 12 am CT.

Hi,

welcome to fixya and thank you choosing my service..

OK,that is the most and common problem of all LCD TV...

Usually dim and totally have no back-light is cause of bad inverter board. One of the inverter board is shorted that cause dim light and crackling sounds..

This are the sample images of inverter board.
1_22_2012_1_29_43_am.jpg

to make sure that the problem is on the inverter board kindly try to disconnect/unplug it from your TV and power ON then observe if the crackling sounds remain or not..If the crackling sounds gone replaced the inverter board..Also I need to how many inverter board you have? if 2 or more disconnect it one by one to determine if where is the specific faulty inverter board..

Example:
I disconnect #1 inverter still have crackling sounds..next disconnect #2 inverter and reconnect the #1 inverter until you found the faulty one..Note when you doing this make it sure you power off the TV before you unplug or disconnect inverter board because its high voltage..

I need the picture your TV screen..just send it to chesterpendilton@yahoo.com

Regards.

Can a loss of audio through a HDTV HDMI connector be fixed?

The repair shop will have to replace the main board since not likely that they will spend a lot of time to troubleshoot down to component level and they must also have proper tools to work on the circuit board that uses surface mounted components.
If you can live without having HDMI 6, then you will be better off, you can expect $150 and up plus parts to repair your TV.

Hi,

If the symptoms remain the same in all inputs like in the DVD player, then this is an indication that the fault is on the TV itself. It is caused by faulty audio/sound output circuitry in the main board. Since your unit is only 9 months old, it is still under warranty period. Avail it because the manufacturer will fix it for free. Don't attempt to open the back cover because it will void the warranty.

Hope I helped you.
Have a nice day!
Thanks for using Fixya.

Last night our TV made a loud popping noise then the picture went out. We still have sound but have trouble turning the TV off. What could this be and is it fixable? Thanks, Anne Marie Orcutt

Hi,
Question shows it is Vizio L32 lcd tv and symptom shows back light inverter board for defective for some reason and loud noise would be popping of any chip on inverter board.
Shopjimmy..com has replacement boards of that model on reasonable price and local tv repairman will replace defective board after checking/ testing the tv.
Hope these info will help.
Thanks.

Continuous crackling from TV speakers

I'm sure you have figured this one out. TV itself is causing the problems.
The circuit board that produces the audio signal seems to be the problem.
Before you call the repairman, go to the web site Shopjimmy.com just to get an idea of what the parts will cost. That way he doesn't rip you off.

I hope I answered your question correctly. Please rate me. :)

No picture, good sound

It's most likely the video board. The menu is injected at the output of the video stream right before the LCD panel. Having audio indicates the signals are getting from the inputs through the input switcher and audio boards. Unless you have electronics experience, I suggest having an experienced tech look at it.
