Might be miss aligned. Try holding the disc still while it tries to boot up. The laser will shake and vibrate. Let go and try it again to see if it works. If nothing else, you've got nothing to lose.

Keeps saying 'no disc' or 'invalid disc'

The Laser Pickup Assembly is the problem, the laser eye is weak and can not read the disc. If you take a Q-Tip and rubbing alcohol carefully clean the laser plastic lens allowing several minutes to dry. If after all this there is no change the only option is to replace the entire unit, because the cost of repair would not be justified.

My sony portable dvd player won't work. It just keeps saying that its loading. Then it say's check disk. what should I do.

Does this happen with all discs?
Are the discs clean and not scratched?

Try a DVD lens cleaning disc (not a CD lens cleaner).

You may have to try the cleaning disc more than once.

I have a portable 7" dvd player PDM-0743. When I insert discs it says "bad disc". I have tried several discs and it says the same.

First thing-- try a disc drive cleaner (available at electronics stores) OR if you can see the laser lens when you open the tray you can clean it with a Que-tip and some rubbing alcohol.
If that doesn't work, let me know.

PORTABLE DVD PLAYER NOT SPINNING DISCS AND SAYING NO DISC

When it is region lock it will say it on the display, if the player is not reading any disk, it is more likely a lens problem, see below:

Try first using a lens cleaner disk, like the ones here.

If that does not work, the unit must be disassembled, and lense cleaned with q tips and isopropyl alcohol or cleaning solution. See below:

Portable dvd player keeps saying bad disc

try cleaning the lens with a lens cleaner cd, if this doesn't work the lens itself is scratched or faulty and you will need to buy another dvd player

Wrong disc

Laser lens may be dirty, try gently cleaning it with a cotton bud with a tiny drip of vodka on the end, i mean the tiniest bit. The lens is the small round, domed clear plastic thing in the player under the lid...if it is top loading. Are playing retail DVD's or any sort of disc you have created on a PC. A lot of players dont like RW-DVD disc's.
