Re: I accidentally hit "standby" key and can't get out.
You can get into safe mode by pressing F8 key repeatedly during startup. You will get to an advanced startup options screen, and simply select Safe Mode. I would also just try unplugging the computer from power source and plugging it back in. The Standby key on your keyboard is not a toggle switch so it should not be reentering standby after you turn computer off and then back on.

You can toggle these settings by using he Fn key in conjunction with F1. If using Windows 7, you can try using the Windows Key + P to bring up the projector options, duplicate being one of them. Alternatively, you can press Windows Key + D (shows desktop) and then right click anywhere there is NOT an icon and select Screen Resolution. Under "Multiple Displays" you can select the option you are looking for. Hope that helps!
ok maybe what happened is that you accidentally enabled the external monitor function.
That is when you want to connect your computer to a monitor, projector, etc. your monitor will turn black and you will be able to see the other monitor.
most computers you have to press the keys Fn+ either f5 or f8 that will return to your screen.
if the configuration on your keyboard is different look for the key that says CRT/LCD and combine it with Fn if you can not find it try Fn and all the f keys on top (Fn+f1, f2, f3, etc) when you do that wait a few seconds to see if your monitor reacts.
i would imagine that the screen has gone bad.sense you said it started to fade..screen replacement is very easy on the V3. There are 4 screws on the cover under little rubber pucks. Then gently pop the back off.and you'll see the camera and the ribbon cables ..undo them carefully, the rest is very self explaining.
Hi and thank you for using fixya:
That is the sleep button. When you press that key the computer goes into sleep mode. After it fully goes to sleep you can get it back by pressing the same button or pressing the power key
Your iPod Touch is not broken! You accidentally invoked one of the accessibility features which zooms the screen. This happens when you double-tap the screen with three fingers simultaneously. To undo it, double-tap again and drag three fingers up or down.
You can turn this feature off by going to Settings > General > Accessibility > Zoom.
If it's a lap yes you do have a back light but that isn't necessarily the problem. Laps have fn (function) keys that you may have hit accidentally. Look at your keyboard for any keys that may look like they have something to do with the brightness which you would hit the fn key first then the brightness key. You could also try to boot to the bios screen and "set defaults". It's also possible you've turned on the fn key to use an alternate monitor. You may be able to boot into safe mode and bypass any changed settings should this be the situation.
If nothing helps shine a light on your monitor if its an lcd and it it's the backlight you will still be able to see a screen just not lite up.
Your pip module has went south. The capicitators on the board have leaked and ruined the board.Agood tv repair man can bypass the module to get you a full screen picture again. The only problem is you will no longer have pip ability.
Red CRT is doing short circuit in the neck. You can try to open the front panel and to hit easy the neck with wood or something and to decrease the red screen a bit. If doesn't work then replace the CRT.
