Question about RCA RT2500 System

Check Speaker banner keeps coming on

I had installed a new Samsung 47" HD flat screen TV on the wall that required me to take apart the Home thearater unit and move to another place. When I hooked everything up I would loose power when the volume got to high. I was told to check all my positive and negative connections which I dd. There were a couple of them wrong. Now what is happening the power will not come on at all. A banner comes across the screen "Check Speakers". I rechecked everything and pulled the wires out to the TV. Still nothing. I even disconnected all the wires and let it sit for an hour hoping it would reboot and still no power and still the "chk speakers" banners come on. I am hoping there is a reset button of some kind. I took the cover off and I do not see one.
Have I blown the reciever?
My wife is really upset!!!

If you have a ohm meter plug it into the back of the speaker it should read about 5.5 ohms

Installing a fllat screen tv on the wall

We have found many people facing the bodacious task of mounting a large or medium flat screen on a wall. The following should help considerably.
You Will need a helper so know one gets injured. Attach the brackets to the Wall using heavy duty 3/8 x 3 long lag bolts. Use a level for straightness.
If you wish to hide your wires behind a wall for a much nicer set up.

Drill a hole in between the bracket centers on the wall and then use a electricians fish tape to run the rest of your wires. You may repeat this step for speaker wires.
Last thing is to lift your unit up onto the bracket. Danger- This TV can be very bulky and heavy. Place your wires through the holes first before hanging.
Plug in your HDMI cable to the Flat Panel and route to the manufacturer's designated component.

How do I connect my flat screen tv to my Phillips MX3900 system

This is an older home theater package and only has component video out for HD and RCA or SPDIF optical out for audio. You'll need to locate the component video input on the back of your flat panel and connect it to the component output of the Phillips unit. Component cables have 3 RCA cable (Red, Blue, Green) for HD. You can use a RED/WHITE RCA cable for audio but if you have a SPDIF Optical cable you should use that for better sound. The TV should have that as an input also. You will need to go into the Menu for the TV and select component video and SPDIF optical if you went that route for audio.

HI Guys. I just upgraded to DirecTV HD-DVR ( I have aHR24-200) installed which is connected via HDMI to my Samsung HD TV. I have a Samsung HT-C550 Digital Home Theater System which is now directly...

You're correct and that is exactly how I always recommend setup (contrary to what the manuals tell you). It makes no sense to me to run any signal through any electronics or interconnections that neither use it nor improve it. Hence, I have NO SOURCE VIDEO going to or through my receiver and NO high end audio going to my TV (which could just as well be a monitor with NO audio capabilities, right)?

Audio electronics should receive the BEST digital audio directly from it's root source.
The TV should receive the BEST video directly from ITS root source.

THAT is why most all high end A/V gear has separate audio and video in/outputs.

If that means you have to make some switching choices when using different sources, oh well. At least you won't have experience potential degradation from multiple hops or have to troubleshoot problems that could be anywhere in that chain.

Hi I have the Sony DAV-HDX285 home theatre system and I'm trying to get it to work with my Vizio 47" HD tv. I go thru the speaker setup with the dvd supplied and all speakers are working tthu the home...

I assume you mean the TV sound only comes out of the TV. THAT would involve internal audio controls at the TV.

Why don't you just connect the TV-related audio directly from each source to the DAV instead of through the TV, which adds NOTHING to the sound quality and may even degrade or limit it.
