Question about Kenmore Washing Machines
Having problems with my 8yr old Kenmore 970-c40042-00 (made by Frigidaire, similar models in the 43142 or so series).
It died on me and upon trobleshooting I found the speed control board defective (2 transistors blown) and replaced it. Works fine now.
While taking it apart I notices rubber particles inside like the belt was slipping or something. It's like a black dust.
It does not seem that the belt is incorrectly postioned (took it out and put it back in position over the right motror drive grooves), but I don't think it's normal to find rubber inside...I'm concerned that the belt is indeed slipping and this caused the control board problems.
Is there a way I can verify this theory? The belt does not have a tensioner or something and does not seem worn out.
Thanks in advance for any suggestion/advice.
Sounds like a sticky brake assy. This type of brake is very tricky and should be checked be a service technician
It's possible to do it yourself but not recommended because of the 200 lb. pressure spring. Hope the diagram will help.
