Our subzero 690 is also 7 years old and keeps flashing vacuum condensor. We vacuumed it and reset it and the light came back on. The authorized technicians, North Eastern Appliances in Westchester, charged us $95 to vacuum it again, and still the light came back on. They came out a second time, at no charge, and still did not manage to fix the problem. No refund on the charge though!! Over the phone they are now saying we need a new condensor for $625 and have done no diagnostic testing on the fridge yet. Another company says they will test both fridge and freezer with a machine to determine exactly what the problem is, however they suspect it needs a new evaporator at the cost of $900 plus a $85 call out fee. Wherever we spend our precious dollars, are we going to be free of the flashing light when we are finishe?. Does anyone know the real cause of the problem? Apparently if is is not fixed immediately the cost to repair could be in the thousands??! Help please....
Call the factory at 800-222-7820.They will give you a list of the authorized servicers in your area. It sounds like the evaporator and the parts will be covered by the year 6 through 12 parts only warranty. If you are in Westchester County $625 sounds right. The vacuum condensor flashes when the compressor has too long of a run time and will reaapear a day or so after it has been reset. I assume the tech made sure the condensor fan was running and the condensr is actually clean.

Usually vacuum condenser light is on, not because of condenser coils dirty, but low on refrigerant unit, so compressor is running longer then usually. You can shut your subzero off at breaker box, if light will keep coming on in day or two, you will need to call service to replace evaporator. Most likely evaporator in Fresh food section has leak(at list its most common place). Check this video I made, even if Your Sub Zero sideXside it still will look the same about changing evaporator. Hope that was helpful.
It is perfectly normal for the refr door on a side by side Subzero to stick out a little further than the freezer door. That light could mean several things. If you have vacuumed the condenser then you should call a repairman to look at it.
I assume from your post you have vacuumed the condensor at the top of the unit? Did you do this regularly over the life of the unit? You have shut the unit off for at least 5 minutes (allowing it to reset) and then turned it back on and the vac condensor light still flashes? I had this same thing happen - unfortunately for me I have had to replace the condensor twice in the 12 years I have owned the unit. Luckily first time was covered by warrantly (parts and labor). Second time was in the 11th year and the parts were covered, and the labor was covered 50% after I complained......It ended up being a leak in the sealed system (condensor). If it keeps happening you may want to call for service - could be that it just needs freon, but it could be the condensor)
You should first vacuum condenser coil on top (looks like radiator coil in the car), then try to reset it by turning it off and back on. Otherwise it indicates that it's running too much and most likely it's not getting cold enough. Sub-zero repair in Orange County, CA
The vacuum condenser indicator keeps flashing on and off. I did vacuum the unit, the the indicator lights keeps flashing on and off. How can I reset it and keep it off?
Thanks,
Rob
You have to press the unit off button inside of the refrigerator and then press it again to turn the fridge back on. The light should go away after that
When copper and aluminum are connected it cannot be welded, it has to be crimped. this is a problem that is not exclusive to sub zero, an all aluminum evaporator ( if it is in the refrigerator it's an evaporator) should resolve the problem nicely
You need to reset the controller open the door and press and hold the "Bell" looking symbol for 15secs then release it should go away let me know if that worked
