Do you have a lightscribe drive, just becasue the box says lightscribe does not mean it was not swapped or not installed. check the drive itself for the light scribe emblem and verify that the drive you have is a lightsrcibe.  Ihave seen this in HP products where some people thoughtthey ahd lightscribe abd they only had rw.

0280:Previous boot incomplete - Default configuration used

Error Code: 0280 Previous boot incomplete - Default configuration used

Message Meanings : Previous POST did not complete successfully. POST loads default values and offers to run Setup. If the failure was caused by incorrect values and they are not corrected, the next boot will likely fail. On system with control of wait states, improper Setup settings can also terminate POST and cause this error on the next boot. Run Setup and verify that wait-state configuration is correct. This error is cleared the next time the system is booted.

What does the above mean ??? If the BIOS does not see a particular device loading ( like Hard Drive ) Try bringing up the Bios setting F-2 and reset to default. Hope this helps

I received an IBM laptop with same issue a few months back. The error message due to the drained out CMOS RTC (coin-cell battery), which retains and other BIOS settings.

The BIOS battery is flat. This battery keeps the Date and time and other settings for the laptop to function correctly. Replace the BIOS battery and then go to the BIOS configuration and set the Date and Time.
If you have further problems, please leave me a comment and give me details of the error messages.

Hi,
If you are getting the above error message , the same could because of two reasons .1. the wireless card is loose 2. the wireless card has gone bad.

Fujitsu siemens an unexpected I/O error has occured

Hello olamideidowu,

Here is a way to find out what the message means. Look for entries in the system event log that happened on the same day your error message happened.

*Using the Event Viewer:

•Click the Start button on lower left corner of the screen

•Select 'Run' (on Windows XP) or Type 'Run' and press the Enter key (on Windows Vista)

•Type 'Eventvwr' (in the 'Run' box) and click OK.

•(On Windows Vista) open the Windows Logs folder in the left pane

•Select the 'System' log in the left pane

•Look at the system events that happened on the same day as the I/O error. One (or more) of those events should contain the 'unexpected I/O error' message.

•Get the Event ID and look up what it means on the Microsoft Events and Errors Message Center: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/support/ee/ee_advanced.aspx

Also, the 'Message Level' of the event shows as Information, Warning, Error or Critical. Looking at the message level can help determine how serious the event may be. Events that have Error or Critical message levels can indicate a problem on the system.

If this solution is helpful please click 'YES' by 'Was this helpful?' below.

Have a great day,
