Re: some videos play some doesnt ?
Use a different media player. If it if purely watching videos, I would go something like VLC player. It plays (at least with what I have seen) everything. It is also free, loads faster then WMP, and simple.
Mind you this will not play Real Player videos. You can get a addon to WMP called Real Alternative to do that though.

You need the Adobe Flash Codec for Windows Media Player. You can get it here.Alternatively, you can download and install VLC Media Player here. It plays everything without having muck about with installing various codecs.
vlc plays all sorts of videos but wmp doesnt recognize most of the videos what you have to do is convert the videos to .dat or .wmv or something using total video converter or something like that and then try
you can download total video converter from the net
Play them by different players like jet audio, windows media player, real player or Quick player (for win OS).
Of course I strongly suggest you to install DIVX on your system, it could help you
go into the settings by rt clicking on media player, and go to tools, options and enable the media player to be the default player for file types, you may want to select "all" that way wmp will be your default player for every audio and video application, if you only want DVD or several of the file types, you can pick out which ones from that same menu, good luck,Gym
To play the audio you need to download the AC3 filter pack here: http://www.free-codecs.com/AC3_Filter_download.htm. I have no idea why Canon didn't bundle this codac with all of the software they provide, but it worked for me. I use a Canon FS100, and had no sound in WMP (or any other Windows apps except VLC Media Player) until installing this.
