No memory card light keeps flashing on GL 2 Video Camera

Although I have a memory card inserted, the 'no memory card' light keeps flashing red on my new GL2 video camera. I just took it out of the box. I have formatted the memory card that comes with it and a Sandisk card I bought at the store at get the same problem with both. Is it the camera or should I send the camera in for maintenance?

Hello, If your brand new camera will not even regognize the SD card that came with it (in the box, 8MB card I believe) and you can format/read the SD cards in your computer, than it must be related to the slot/pins inside the camera. You can also format SD cards directly from the camera but if it won't even recognize that one is inserted, the camera needs to be returned.
Good Luck!

Try any other memory card in your camera or try your memory card in any other device to confirm the fault.
also try reformatting the card.as reformatting deletes the old data on the card.

If you just took it out of the box I would take this unit back. It seems that the camer is not recognizing the memory card. If you have this problem with this new unit who knows what else is wrong with it.I hope this helps you.

Seems memory card holder pins are not making good contact with memory card.
Please check memory card slot and observe contact pins.

First ensure that you have used the right format, I think the camera should support FAT32.

Test a different memory card and use the camera to format the memory card.

Thanks for the info. You mentioned factory reset. How does that work?

You should find the reset to factory default option within the camera's menu options.

Try this too: Remove memory card before resetting.
Turn off the camera, and leave the camera without inserting the battery & memory card overnight allowing it to reset.

Make sure that the video camcorder was not turned off immediately after recording before the images are saved in memory. Also be sure that your memory card is properly inserted in your camera.

Battery wont charge

This camera not charged via PC, you can charge the battery only with wall charger(comes with box). When camera is plugged to PC, you can´t use it as a camera, only as a memory card. You can watch your stuff in PC( PC recognise a camera as a flash memory, no more).

So, this is normal..Charge your camera with wall charger(Full charge Red light not flash!, if light flashed camera is charging) Unplug and use as usually!

Sony CX-12 Camcorder gives message when memory stick inserted

Hi!
This is a feature and not a defect of the CX-12 that reminds the user that the memory stick inserted might not be able to record the data from the camera effectively. HD video requires a memory stick with a relatively fast data read/write speed, and the CX-12 recommends not using any other stick that is not Mark 2.
Fortunately, though, as you have found out, it does not affect the camera's ability to record in non-Mark 2 sticks.
Hope this helps!
