Re: WPN824 Keeps rebooting itself at different Intevals

It could be a general hardware problem, but check it's not getting very hot as there may be a cut out. When you updated the firmware, did you do a factory reset as on some routers it may not of saved the update, check the firmware type in the properties of the router.

When i turn on the power to my router, all of the lights turn on and freeze

Try to reboot your router...normally reboot are two types...

In Netgear router, when you change the router configuration, it does a "soft reboot", which is related to the operating system reboot.
And a "hard reboot" is usually done by removing power from the router and rebooting it after powering it off for several seconds.

->open your browser and login your router page using username and password..
->Click the Diagnostics option which is under the Maintenance on the left hand side of your Netgear setting page.
->Then click the Reboot button and it will automatically reboot your router.

***Reboot process can vary depending on different Netgear wireless router models.

We have been using the Netgear router WPN824 for about 3 years and all of a sudden it stopped working. No flashing strobe lights - nothing. any suggestions?

Will it even power on at all ? If there are no lights at all make sure its plugged in securely. Maybe even try a different power outlet to see if the one you are using has not gone bad. If that still doesn't help then there is a chance that your router has failed. Being 3 years old it is possible. A failure can be from a power surge, storm, manufacture defect etc. In which case you will have to replace it. Sorry for the bad news.

WPN824 Transmitting Signal, no internet.

As a last resort, you can reset your router by holding down the reset button in the back. It doesn't sound like this will fix the problem however. Purchasing a new router shouldn't be necessary, as most if not all Netgear routers come with a 1 year warranty standard.
