Question about Brother DCP 115C All-In-One InkJet Printer

MFC-235C Print Message Problem

My printer was asking for catridges to be replaced which I have completed. Message on printer display states 'No cartridge. Open ink cartidge cover then reinstall ink catridge'

I have completed this several times and powered down the printer - but no joy and will not print.

Can anybody advise if there is some way of clearing the message and resuming printer functionality.

Please email on paul.halhead@polk.co.uk. Many thanks

I have the same problem on a MFC-9440CN.  Even though I have replaced the toner cartridges as prompted - it still gives me a message saying to replace those cartridges and does not print.

I would appreciate some help with this.

SOURCE: Brother MFC-640CW Replaced Black catridge becomes empty

Compatible carts do make a lot of trouble. One point is the draining! The ink has flown into the cart assy and beyond that to the bottom of the printer. As long as you can print without problems you dont have to do anything. If the test pages wont show the correct color you have to open the printer and to clean the assy and the bottom.

Do use original ink carts though these wont drain and give correct info to printer. You can very simple refill them with dye ink. Dye ink only!!!

I guess you d used generic ink carts?!
If yes, the cart holder needs replacement due to ink that has stained the led control. The ink has made a short circuit. The error can only be deleted by replacing the whole cart holder!

SOURCE: MFC-240 shows no ink cartridge

Same problem here... Figured out something that works fine for me anyway.

I took some black electrical tape and covered the clear plastic area in the front of the cartridge. It's a bit of a delicate procedure. Need a piece of tape about 3/16 of an inch wide and 1/2 inch long to match the contour of the clear plastic so it still fits inside the printer and can be surrounded by the light sensors.

Unfortunately, I think Brother is making too much on the ink cartridges and therefore is trying to make them tamper proof. I t's backfiring on them. Will never buy another Brother.

Hi there, Can I print in Black & White when I ran out one of colour ink catridges??? On Brother website it says that you can. According to their advice the Error message shoud come up on LCD screen...

as long as the color print cartridges remain in the printer you should be able to print in only black and white.
If the error message does not come up you should be able to tell the printer to print in black and white in your page setup or print properties portion when you go to print your page.

(1) go file print or print
(2) a gray box will pop up click on properties
(3) Click color
(4)click gray scale

This should do it for you!
(5) select black print cartridge only

Printer spits out blank page before printing

Hi,
Check Your Ink Catridge. If the Catridge ink is full then try the following Steps.
  • Unplug the printer cable from the computer.
  • Unistall the printer drivers from Device manager and also unistall the all the printer appications
  • restart the computer
  • try to download drivers from the website
  • after installing the cannon drivers and software it will ask you to connect the printer.
  • then you can connect the printer and print a test page.
Hope this help. Please Rate My Response! Thanks!

Brother mfc-215c unable to clean?

The ink blotter in the bottom of the machine is full, this is a built-in redundancy. Machine needs to be completely stripped to replace this.

Buy another brand next time.

Mfc-240c reading offline and empty black

Regarding your problem: If one of the color ink cartidges is out of ink, the MFC 240C printer will not operate when you only install a black ink cartidge. It requires that all four catridges have ink available in them for it to function. When you examine a cartridge it may appear that it has a little ink in it when you get message that the cartridges needs to be replaced because a little ink remains to prevent the print head from drying out. Brother MFC 5840CNZ displays Ink Empty on CYAN when new cartridge is installed

Something that has worked for some Brother owners to get cartridges recognised.

1. With your MFC powered up, open it up and remove the cartridge you are having a problem with, then close the MFC, leaving it powered up. It should report that there is no cartridge in the machine.

Still with the MFC powered up, open it up and reinsert the ink cartridge, then close the MFC. It should either ask if you have replaced a cartridge or go into its cleaning mode.

Answer "yes" to "have you replaced cartridge?" and it should either "print" or "clean" and then "print".
